Food Closet Report
St. Mark’s Food Closet has been in operation for well over 30 years. It has served numerous individuals and families and has continued to grow at a healthy pace. On Diaper Day our volunteers give away more than 30 bags of food, both canned and dry good. The bags are usually packed the 4th Saturday and distributed the next day to our guests who come for diapers. In the past, we have filled the food carts and brought them to the guild room. Beginning in July, we are experimenting with a new concept; shopping for your own groceries. We will have two storage cabinets set up in the back of the parish hall, stocked with both canned and dry good. Our guests will have the option of choosing the items they most need and then can fill their bags with help from a volunteer. We will limit the quantities they may receive and will offer to help them carry their groceries to their cars, along with their diapers and supplies. In this way, we hope to streamline our operations and make them more “user friendly!” Our Food Closet Ministry is funded by contributions from St. Mark’s Parishioners and from grants from the Outreach Committee and The Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming. Our current balance in the bank is approximately $4,400.00. The Food Closet has scaled back its operations for the summer and we are evaluating the needs based necessity of daily operations due to the number of available food sources in the community and the lack of volunteers to staff our day to day operations. We will continue to offer this service on the 4th Sunday of each month and on an as needed basis. If you have questions about this ministry or would like to volunteer please contact Pat Hrnicek or the St. Mark’s Office.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION OPPORTUNITIES
FOR SEPTEMBER
Church History & Dinner Last three Sunday afternoons in September and October
Program at 5 pm, Dinner to follow
“Those who know their history are destined to learn from it.”
“Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.”
I think knowing our Church history is so crucial to embracing our faith. We will begin with our most recent history, including St. Marks’ and work our way back through Prayer Book revision, women’s’ role in leadership, social justice, the American Revolution, The Reformation, the origins of the Church of England, the Middle Ages, the Age of Constantine and first few hundred years of Christianity.
September 16th: Wyoming Church History presented by Warren Murphy, one of our own clergy in
the Diocese who has written a book “On Sacred Ground: A Religious and Spiritual History of
Wyoming”, on this subject.

Changing the World, One Diaper at a Time.
It’s hard to believe that one simple phrase
can mean so much to so many. In the past nine
months we have served an average of 48 families
with some 88 children each month. This ministry has
also enriched the lives of our dedicated volunteer
group who faithfully come each 4th Saturday to help
set up tables, label and place the diapers and wipes
for easy access, and prepare food bags from the St.
Mark’s Food Closet for those families as their needs
dictate. At 10:30 the next day, we welcome our
guests. Each month we greet familiar faces and some
new as well.
Our Diaper Ministry has expanded since the
spring and we are now offering this ministry at the
Natrona County Public Library on Wednesdays for
those who may need a little help in between our
regular 4th Sundays.
We are always in need of more volunteers to
join this worthwhile ministry. We invite you to come
and observe what is going on the 4th Sunday of each
month at 10:30 in the Guild Room and the Parish
Hall. You may want to help on the 4th Saturday by
filling food bags, labeling diapers, sorting baby
clothes to be given away, or perhaps after church on
Sunday to greet our guests, help them register, fill
their diaper/wipe needs, or guide them through the
pantry shelves to shop for groceries or help carry
them to their cars. There is no age requirement to
serve in this ministry; young, old, all are welcome to
serve!
Our Diaper Ministry has been funded by
donations from St. Mark’s monetary donations from
our parishioners, grants from St. Mark’s Outreach,
and grants from the Diocese of Wyoming. As of July
9, 2018 we had approximately $2,800.00 remaining
balance.

It is both with sadness and hope for eternal life that we announce the passing of John Larson and
long time parishioner James Hunter.
May their souls rest in peace. Fr. Jim
ERD It has been a few months since we’ve talked
about Episcopal Relief and Development. We’ve had
no major catastrophes in the world that have needed
our immediate attention; or have we? It seems there
are still many needs in Puerto Rico, in Florida,
California, Texas, the entire Gulf Coast, Colorado,
and Wyoming and on and on. People are still losing
their homes and livelihoods to flooding, wildfires,
and many other kinds of disasters. The needs never
disappear, they just somehow fade from our minds
until the next great need arises.
Episcopal Relief and Development is always
working hard to help with money and volunteers to
aid our brothers and sisters around the world, but they
cannot do it without help from us. As you are able,
your donations are always appreciated, not just in
time of disaster. You may place your offerings in the
collection plate on Sundays, leave them in the church
office, or send them directly to Episcopal Relief and
Development. Every little bit helps, truly.
Contribution to ERD totaled 255.72, from
January to April of 2018,
