Dear Parents and Caregivers, Chers parents, Welcome back to term 3. We hope you enjoyed the holidays with your family and friends. Nous espérons que vous avez passé de bonnes vacances avec votre famille et vos amis. Bilingual Newsletter Our commitment to ‘one school, one curriculum and one communi-ty’ was demonstrated last term with the introduction of our first bilingual student report. The next stage is the introduction of a bilingual newsletter, written by Amanda McLean and Caroline Pom-mier each week. This is our first bilingual newsletter. Notre engagement vers “Une école, un programme, une commu-nauté » s’est exprimé au trimestre précédent avec l’introduction de notre premier bulletin bilingue. L’étape suivante est l’introduction d’une newsletter bilingue, écrite par Amanda McLean et Caroline Pommier chaque semaine. Voici notre première newsletter bi-lingue ! Staffing Louis Bournik our French LOTE teacher has taken a fulltime position at another school. To replace Bournik, Caroline Pommier and I will be working together to find a suitable replacement. Bournik had a wonderful rapport with students and staff. He will be sadly missed and we wish him all the very best at his new school. Nadege is currently teaching all students from Foundation to year 4 French, whilst the school undertakes the DET recruitment process. Louis Bournik Kabengele, notre professeur de Français langue étran-gère, a accepté un poste à temps plein dans une autre école. Amanda McLean et moi-même travaillons ensemble afin de trouver un remplaçant. Bournik avait un excellent rapport avec les élèves et l’équipe. Nous allons le regretter et nous lui souhaitons de réussir dans sa future mission. Nadège enseigne le Français à tous les élèves de la section austra-lienne, de la Grande Section au CM1 pendant que l’école suit le pro-cessus de recrutement du département de l’éducation du Victoria. Pupil Free Day On Friday 5th August, School Council have approved our fourth and final Pupil Free Day for 2016. The focus of the day is to continue to build teacher understanding and capacity in writing. A focus on writing is one of our goals of our School Strategic Plan. Camp Aus-tralia online bookings for this day are open and will be able to sup-port working families if they have the minimum of 18 children are enrolled. Le 5 août prochain, le School Council a approuvé notre quatrième et dernière journée pédagogique de 2016. Les élèves n’auront donc pas cours ce jour-là. La journée sera consacrée à améliorer la com-préhension des professeurs sur les compétences en production écrite de nos élèves. L’expression écrite est l’une des priorités de notre projet d’école. Vous pouvez dès maintenant réservez auprès de Camp Australia. Un minimum de 18 enfants est nécessaire.

Bastille Day Our week has focused on Bastille Celebration. The school captains and the French Liaison went to the Shrine on the 14th of July. The students laid a wreath in honour of the veterans and represented proudly Caul-field Junior College during this commemoration. They wrote an article about it that you will find on page 3.This article will also be published in the French veteran web-site. It has been fantastic to see such an interest from the school captains. To continue Bastille celebrations, we invite you to the Bastille Day Festival to watch the performance of our students. When: On Sunday, the 17th of July, at 11.15 am Where: The State Library Special Performance at the State Library: The after school activities classes of Drama and Dance will present a play «Au secours du loup». It’s also a great occasion to enjoy live music, French Movies, Conferences and French food.

Bastille Day Cette semaine fut rythmée par les célébrations du 14 juillet. Les school captains ainsi que les French Liaison se sont rendus au Shrine le 14 juillet dernier. Les élèves ont déposé une couronne en l’honneur des anciens combattants. Ils ont écrit un article sur cette visite que vous trouverez en page ….Cet article sera égale-ment publié sur le site internet des anciens combattants français du Victoria. Ce fut un vrai plaisir de voir l’engouement de nos School Captains pour cette célébration. Afin de poursuivre les célébrations du 14 juillet, nous vous invitons à vous rendre au festival Bastille Day afin de voir les représentations de nos élèves.

Représentations à la State Library: Les classes de Danse et de Théàtre présenteront une pièce intitulée «Au secours du loup». Ce sera également l’occasion de découvrir de nouveaux groupes de musique live, des films français, des conférences et de la gas-tronomie française. Concours Berthe Mouchette All students in years 3-6 participated in a French Poetry Competi-tion. Congratulations to all finalists of the Berthe Mouchette Competition who achieved a score of 20/20. You will find the list of the finalist on page 4. Finalists will recite their poem on the 24th of July at The Alliance Française from 9.00am to 6.00pm. The schedule and individual appointment slips for distribution to the finalists of the competition will be sent next week. The final test will consist of the recitation of the poem already recited by the candidates. Tous les élèves du CE2 à la 6e ont participé cette année au con-cours de poésie Berthe Mouchette. Vous recevrez les lettres d’invita-tion la semaine prochaine. Les finalistes réciteront le poème qu’ils ont déjà récité lors de leur première audition. French Theatre of Melbourne The French Theatre of Melbourne is looking for a French speak-ing student for a voice part in a new play named “Les 3 versions de la vie”. The successful candidate will be required to attend sessions on the 30th July or the 6th of August. If your child is interested in auditing for the part, please see our office staff by the 19th July and ask permission form to audition and to find our more information. Le théâtre français de Melbourne est à la recherche d’un enfant francophone pour jouer « une voix » dans sa future pièce « Les 3 versions de la vie » L’enfant sélectionné pendant les auditions devra pouvoir se rendre à Carlton pour un enregistrement le 30 juillet ou le 6 août prochain. Si votre enfant est intéressé pour passer les auditions à l’école avec Noémie, nous vous invitons à récupérer les différents formu-laires et autorisations à l’office avant le 19 juillet afin d’obtenir de plus amples informations.

Students who are finalists will receive notification on a slip of paper that teachers will distrib-ute. Winners will be announced on our website on the 14th of September. -On Wednesday the 27th of July: -Team Building :Incursion for the students in Y3/4. -PREP 100 days -On Tuesday the 2nd of August: Athletics day for students in Y3 to 6.

BASTILLE DAY Bastille Day is when we celebrate the French revolution. In 1789, the French peasants rebelled against the king, Louis the XVI. He was treating the peasants very poorly so they decided to over-throw him. In the end they concluded that they would kill him after what he had done. This special day is called Bastille Day after the prison that they invaded. On the 14th of July 2016, the School Captains and the French Liai-son Leaders visited the shrine of remembrance to celebrate Bas-tille Day. We took a half an hour tram journey to the city with Car-oline and Anne. Once we arrived, we walked up the shrine hill, passing statues re-enacting events in the war. At the top of the hill, stood the shrine! It had unique grassing and carvings of lions and royal figures. When we entered, we were greeted by the servicemen. We listened to some speeches and then we were invited to lay down our wreath on behalf of the school. Afterwards, we got to take a photo with the guards, The honorary Consul General of France, Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie , the Shrine governor and other important people. It was freezing outside and the wind was biting our faces. We gathered around an Eternal Flame that was lit in 1954 by Queen Elizabeth II and has been burning ever since. The reason we went was because we are a French/English bilin-gual school so we got invited to lay down a wreath on behalf of CJC. All in all, it was a great experience and we all learned many inter-esting historical facts and also had fun visiting the shrine of re-membrance.

Le 14 Juillet Bastille Day/Le 14 juillet est quand nous célébrons la révolution française. En 1789, les paysans français se sont rebellés contre le roi, Louis XVI, car il traitait les paysans très mal. Ils ont décidé de le renverser. En fin de compte, ils ont conclu qu'ils allaient le tuer après ce qu'il avait fait. Cette journée spéciale est appelée La prise de la Bastille d’après la prison qu'ils ont envahi. Le 14 Juillet 2016, les School Captains et les French Liaison Lead-ers ont visité le Shrine pour célébrer le 14 juillet. Nous avons pris un tram pendant une demi-heure pour aller à la city avec Caroline et Anne. Une fois que nous sommes arrivés, nous avons marché jusqu'à la colline du sanctuaire, en passant devant des statues qui rappellent les événements de la guerre. Au sommet de la colline, se trouvait le sanctuaire! Il y avait des sculptures de lions et des figures roy-ales uniques. Quand nous sommes entrés, nous avons été accueil-lis par les militaires. Nous avons écouté quelques discours puis nous avons été invités à déposer notre couronne de fleur au nom de l'école. Ensuite, nous avons pris une photo avec les gardes, la consule honoraire de France, Myriam Boisbouvier Wyllie, le gouverneur du Shrine et d'autres personnes importantes. Il gelait et le vent mordait nos visages. Nous nous sommes réunis autour d'une flamme éternelle qui a été allumée en 1954 par la reine Elizabeth II et qui brûle depuis. La raison pour laquelle nous nous sommes rendus au Shrine était parce que nous sommes une école bilingue français / anglais, donc nous avons été invités à déposer une couronne au nom du CJC. Dans l'ensemble, ce fut une grande expérience et nous avons tous appris beaucoup de faits historiques intéressants et nous avons également eu le plaisir de visiter le sanctuaire.

Logistics and Contacts for Term 3 /Logistiques et Contacts Terme 3

ASA Central Co-Ordinator In term 3 we have asked Noemie Clain to play a central coordinator role for the ASA programs. This will mean that Noemie will take charge of certain logistical aspects daily. For example she will collect Prep/Foundation/Grande Section students from their class-rooms, she will help manage planned and unexpected absences and be the point of contact on the activity day for parents.

New Mobile Number We now also have a dedicated telephone number that parents can use to contact Noemie with any problems logistically and that Noemie will use to call parents with if there are issues. This number is 0481 165 218. Please make a note of it.

Music lessons are tailored to your goal whether it be to prepare for AMEB, ANZCA or just playing your favourite songs.
