On December 25, 1978, Vietnam launcheda full-scale invasion

• Country remained communist for sometime but not in such extreme conditions.

• Pol Pot fled into the jungle.

• Pol Pot denied that he had ever done

anything wrong.

Born between 1923 and 1925 into the Kakwa tribe inKoboko, near Arua in the northwest corner of Uganda

1946 - He joins the King's African Rifles as anassistant cook

1959 - He is made a warrant officer with the rank of 'effendi'

1961 - He rises to the rank of lieutenant,



'Turkana Massacre'

1962 - operation to suppress cattle stealing by tribesmen spilling into the north of Uganda from theneighbouring Turkana region of Kenya.

Investigations by the British authorities in Kenyareveal that the victims of the massacre had beentortured, beaten to death and, in some cases, buriedalive.



1966 - Amin wassubsequently promoted

to major-general andappointed chief of the

army and air force.

1975 - He staged a

publicity stunt forthe world media,forcing whiteresidents of

Kampala to carry

him on a thronethen kneel beforehim and recite an

oath of loyalty.

1976



1977

In January Amin accuses the Anglican archbishop of Uganda of conspiring in an invasion plot. The next day

the archbishop and two Cabinet ministers are murdered.



1978

Amin launches an attack on Tanzania, a neighbouring

country to the south, at the end of October.



1979

Amin flees to Libya, taking his four wives, several of his 30

mistresses and about 20 of his children

He flees to jeddah in saudi arabia



1980

Milton Obote returns to power in Uganda following a

general election.

Obote is once again ousted in July 1985.



1989

Amin attempts to return to Uganda to reclaim power but is

identified at Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic

Republic of the Congo), and forced to return to Saudi

Arabia.



1999

Amin gives an interview to an Ugandan newspaper, saying

“very happy now, much happier now then when I was

president.”



2001

It is reported that Amin wishes to return to Uganda. He

continues to be popular in his home province and begins

to fund the rebuilding of family properties destroyed by

the Tanzanian troops who expelled him in 1979



2002

Uganda officially celebrates Amin's downfall for the first

time.



2003

Amin dies in hospital of complications due to multiple

organ failure at 8:20 a.m. on 16 August. He is buried in

Jeddah's Ruwais cemetery during a small funeral

ceremony just hours after his death.



Some more bizarre rumours and myths…….

•Feeding the corpses of his victims to crocodiles,

of keeping severed heads in a freezer at his

home and bringing them out on occasions for

"talks" - most or all of which are unsubstantiated,

but not necessarily untrue.

•He planned to have a statue of Hitler

constructed in Kampala.

• Amin's rule was characterized by gross human

rights abuse

=firm, insistent, self-assured, dominating, and self-centered.

Advantages:

• Autocratic leader made quick decision without consulting to a large group of people• When autocratic leader give instruction people have

to follow this instruction• Autocratic leader must take full responsibility for the result•

They can handle very stressful situation• This leaders are very devoted to there work



Disadvantage of Autocratic leader• Autocratic leader makes decision without consulting

the group, people in the group may dislike that they are unable to contribute the ideas

• If the situation is going wrong side then it feeldepressed

• Researches have also found that autocraticleadership lead to a lack of creative solution to solve

any problem• If autocratic leader have less knowledge then group

performance is very low
