Validate licensing terms according your company‘s requirements and

operating systems

Validate File Property and Content Indexing before

enabling your Vault for Content Indexing

▪ Check Windows Search Advanced Options

▪ Follow your PDF product vendor‘s instruction how

to register the handler if needed1

PDF iFilter Installed | Validation

1) For PDF-XChange follow KB Article #KB395

Validate before enabling your Vault for Content Indexing

▪ Add PDF file to Vault, e.g. creating a Design Representation

PDF iFilter Installed | Validation

▪ Navigate ADMS Server – Filestore using Windows Explorer

▪ Enable Advanced Search Options – File Content

▪ Search one of the PDF file properties, e.g. „Inventor“

▪ Search textual content of the drawing, e.g. „WINDING“

PDF iFilter Installed | Validation

▪ Enable Content Indexing

▪ Watch Server Tasks – Content Indexing runs every 20min per default

ADMS | Enable Content Indexing

Note – Turn off Content Indexing if it had been enabled before PDF iFilter was installed. Wait for the confirmation message, then turn on again.

▪ Repeat the validation searches within Vault Explorer
