Presentations are on November 13th -16th.

You will draw for a day and time to present on Friday, November 9th!

You will have five minutes to trade with someone else in class that is willing to trade. After that, you are stuck with the day you have. You cannot switch anytime after the Thursday drawing.

You have to get dressed up to present.See the handout for the requirements for dress.

If you need dress clothes, please see your teacher, as we may be able to provide them for you.

If you make a costume, you have to be part of the fashion show on the Showcase night.

You need to turn in all of the following on the day that you present:

1. Your Visual Project2. All your other

genres, revised and finished

3. Your speech notes

What materials must I have for my presentation?1. All your genres,

including your visual project. They need to be displayed so the audience can see them on the table you will have available.

2. Your speech notes3. Your dress clothes

or costume

What should my speech notes look like?-You can type or hand-write.-You can choose one method:

1. note cards2. bullet points3. Power Poetry4. Paragraphs

There are specific items to cover in your speech. See the outline handout for details.

How should I act as an audience for my classmates?1. Be quiet. 2. Pay attention.3. Be SUPPORTIVE. 4. Ask good

questions.5. Write supportive

comments on your evaluation sheet.

How long is the speech supposed to be?-Standard: 4-6 minutes-Honors: 5-7 minutes

If you have a video or performance as your project, you need to adhere to the minimum amount of time allowed for the project. You do not get to count the time to watch a video or a performance in your speech time.

What if my project breaks on the day I present, or even before that day?

Fix it if possible if it breaks before presentation day. Bring any and all pieces that can’t be fixed and present anyway. Then, fix it before the showcase.

When can I change into my dress clothes for the presentation?

You will not get any class time to change into your dress clothes. Come dressed up to school! It won’t hurt you, we promise. Only those in costume can change.

What if I am sick or just don’t show up on presentation day?

1. If you are sick, you MUST have your parents call and leave a message for your teacher in the main office. Your teacher will return the call. You must bring your project the next day you are back.

2. If you just don’t show, you get zeroes on all three grades. No late projects.

What if I am not finished with my project on the day I have to present?

Bring in what you have and present it anyway. At least you won’t get a zero and you can finish it by the Showcase, which will help.

When do I bring and take away my project?1. You bring your

project on the morning of the day you present.

2. You take your project away on the same day! We cannot store your project for you and you will need it again on the showcase.

What if I need technology for my speech?-Test it in the morning before school, if possible-bring videos on a DVD and on a flash drive, if possible-talk with your teacher and arrange any special technology

How do I display my PowerPoint for my speech?You will use it during your speech. It will be projected and you will have a remote to use to switch slides.

What happens if I don’t do a project?

1. You can’t present.

2. You can’t come to the Showcase and have a booth.

3. You will end up with four test grades as zeroes. That’s bad!
