Extremelyhardwater(above~150ppm[~0.3mS/cm2])mayfomayforcepHupward,duetoit'shighconcentrationofcarbonatesthatbuildupinthesystemovertime.
IfsourcewaterisextremelyharditisrecommendtouseanRO(ReverseOsmosis)filterandrunyoursystemusingthisROwater.
TheperfectpHisrecommendedforallfruitingplants
(fruits,vegetables,medicalplants,etc.)andisnotrecom-
mendedforornamentalplants.
Inorderfortheionicrelationshiptobecreatedbetween
theplantsandtheperfectpH,thereneedstobe
establishedrootspresentinthesystem.Asanexample,
wedonotcurrentlyrecommendusingtheperfectpHwith
asmallamountofclones,astheyhavenotcreated
adequaterootvolume.
ThelaThelargertheroots,themoreionswillbedischargedfrom
themastheplantsphotosynthesize,andthiswillcreatea
betterrelationshipwiththedevice.Weusuallyrecommend
lettingclonesdevelop1-2weeksintotheirvegetative
growthbeforeaddingtheperfectpH,asthedevicemaybe
lesseffectiveduringthistime.
Furthercompatibilityforusewithclonersystemsis
curcurrentlyinresearch&development.
BestBestresultswillbeobtainedusingtheperfectpHinasystemwithnutrients,astheionicrelationshipcreatedissupportedbytheplantsreleasingionsastheyfeedoffofthenutrientsavailable.Ifthenutrientmixtureconcentra-tionisallowedtogetverylow,thiscancauseaslightin-creaseinpH,butthesystemwillcorrectitselfoncenutri-entsareadded.Usuallyaminimumof~350ppm(~0.7mS/cm2)issufficient.
Mineralnutrientsaretypicallyrecommended.
SomeorganicfertilizernutrientmixesmaybelesseffectivewiththeperfectpH,dependentonthespecificsandenvironmentofeachsystem.
Useofun-stabilizedsilicawiththeperfectpHcancausethepHtorise.WhenusingsilicawiththeperfectpHitisrecommendedtouseabrandthatispre-stabilizedsuchasOSA28,anddoseinsmallamountsorasrecommendedbymanufacturer.Aswell,abitofpHdowncanbeusedtooffsetthiseffect.
UponthefirstfewdaysofusinganewperfectpH,someUponthefirstfewdaysofusinganewperfectpH,some
usersmayexperienceatemporarydropinpH.Thisis
causedbyareleaseofacidityfromthecompositewithin
theperfectpH,uponthefirstinitialuse.Toremedythis,a
smallamountofpHupcanbeaddedtocounteractthis
drop,afterwhichthepHwillstaystabilizedwithinthe
idealrange.
Significantlyhighreservoirtemperaturescanincreasethe
pHinsomesituations.Ifthetemperatureofthereservoir
istoohighthiscouldinterferewiththedeviceworkingto
it'sfullcapacity,andcouldpotentiallyresultinapH
rreadinguptoafullpHpointhigherthantheidealrange.
Loweringthetemperatureofthereservoircanresolvethis
issue.
AninitialmakeshifttestcanbedonebyfAninitialmakeshifttestcanbedonebyfreezingacouple
ofwaterbottlesintoiceanddroppingthemintothe
systemtoseeifithasanyeffect.Ifusingachiller,auser
canturnthesettingtoacoolertemperaturetoremedyany
temperatureissues.Werecommendthereservoirtem-
peraturetypicallybeintherangeof65-75F(18-24C),
thoughsomesystemsmaycontinuetofunctionproperly
withinawidertemperatuwithinawidertemperaturerange.
InordertokeepyourperfectpHworkingoptimally,itis
recommendedtoremovetheperfectpHfromthereservoir
andsubmergeintheTorusHydroperfectpHRecharge
Solutionevery8-12weeksofuse,oraspHbeginstodrift
outsideoftherecommendedrange.
TheperfectpHcanbethoughtofasarechargeable
batterbattery.Biggerplants,withlargerrootmasswill'deplete
thecharge'morequicklythansmallerplantswithlessroot
mass.Thus,therechargerecommendationsaregeneral
guidelines,anduserexperiencemayvary.Torecharge,the
perfectpHshouldbesubmergedintheRechargeSolution
for2hours,thenrinsedwithwater,andreturnedtothe
reservoir.
