Form 6 Recloser Control ProView 5.0 Software Upgrade Wizard Instructions – Applicable to ProView 4.0 and 4.0.1 F6 standard schemes. Note: F6TS schemes in ProView 4.0 and 4.0.1 will convert to ProView F6TS 5.0 schemes. Form 6-TS controls using ProView F6TS 5.0 schemes require the Expanded Memory CPU or the Expanded Memory CPU hardware upgrade.

Section I.
Starting the ProViewTM 5.0 Software Application Launcher Tool
The ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard can be accessed via three methods: Method 1: During the installation process, several icons were created and placed onto your desktop.
1. Locate the icon labeled 2. Position the cursor over the icon and double-left click.
3. ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen will open as shown below.

Method 2:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start > All Programs > Cooper >ProView 5.0. 2. Double-left click “Upgrade Wizard 5.0”.
Method 3: From the ProView Application Launcher Icon:
1. Locate the icon labeled 2. Position the cursor over the icon and double-left click. 3. Welcome to ProView Application Launcher screen will open as shown below.
4. Click on the OK button 5. The ProView Application Launcher screen will open as shown below. Click on the
ProView Upgrade Wizard Start button.

The ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen will be displayed as shown below.
NOTE: The ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard converts ProView 4.0 or ProView 4.0.1 Form 6 schemes to ProView 5.0.
NOTE: ProView 4.0 and 4.0.1 schemes with customized logic within the ProView Workbench will be converted to ProView 5.0 with the same customized logic.

Section II. Maintain existing scheme & settings Note: For on-screen help, left-click the question mark symbol to the right of each option button.
There are three methods to convert a ProView 4.0 or 4.0.1 scheme to a ProView 5.0 scheme.
1. Scheme File on Disk
A. From the Proview 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen, click the button labeled Convert next to the label Scheme File On Disk.
B. When the Select a Scheme to convert to 5.0 dialog is displayed, navigate to C:\Program
Files\Cooper\Proview401 (or Proview40)\Form6 and select the ProView 4.0 or ProView 4.0.1 file to be converted. Click to highlight the file and then click the Open button.
C. The selected scheme is converted into the ProView 5.0 format. When the Save As dialog is displayed, accept or change the File name and then click the Save button.

The newly created file will be located in the Proview50 install directory. The default install directory is:
C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview50\Form6 ProView 5.0 will prompt if you want to convert another scheme. If you want to convert another scheme, click Yes and then, repeat steps B. and C. Otherwise, click No to exit ProView 5.0 and the program will quit to the Windows desktop.
IMPORTANT: After completing the Scheme file conversion, proceed with the recommended Scheme Verification process in Section V of this document.
2. Upgrade Control Using a V5.0 Scheme On Disk A. From the Proview 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen, click the middle button labeled Upgrade
next to the label Upgrade Control Using a V5.0 Scheme on Disk:

B. When the Select a Form 6 Version 5.0 scheme to download to the control dialog is displayed, highlight the ProView 5.0 scheme to be downloaded by clicking it and click the Open button. The Upgrade Wizard will launch ProView 5.0 and load the selected scheme.
C. When the Select Connection dialog opens, select the Com port used by your PC for serial communications and click on the OK button.
D. ProView will prompt for a password. Enter the case-sensitive device password (e.g., the
default password is “Modify”) and then click the OK button.

E. Four progress-bar boxes will be displayed in the following sequence to indicate the
current state of the Upgrade Wizard.

Note: All LEDs on the Form 6 control front panel will be illuminated during the "Downloading firmware" stage of the upgrading process. Do not cancel the firmware download.

Note: If a Form 6-TS scheme is unintentionally selected, the following screen will appear:
This message notifies the user that they attempted to download a F6-TS scheme file into a Form 6-TS control CPU that does not have expanded memory.
F. At completion of the scheme download, a message box will appear as shown below.
G. Click OK, and ProView 5.0 will quit to the Windows Desktop. The Form 6 control will be
in its normal state ready for operation.
IMPORTANT: The upgrade process is not complete until the ProView 5.0 message box is displayed.
IMPORTANT: After completing the Scheme file conversion, proceed with the recommended Scheme Verification process in Section V of this document.

3. Upload Control's Scheme, Convert to V5.0, Then Upgrade Control
A. From the ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen, click the third button labeled Upgrade
which is next to this label: Upload Control's Scheme, Convert to V5.0, Then Upgrade Control.
B. When the Select Connection dialog opens, select the Com port used by your PC for
serial communications and then click on the OK button.
C. ProView will prompt for a password. Enter the case-sensitive device password (e.g., the default password is “Modify”), and then click the OK button.

Note 2: If a Form 6 .f6e scheme conversion to a ProView 5.0 .f6s scheme exceeds the maximum memory capacity of a Form 6 control with standard CPU hardware, the following message will appear as shown below. Click the OK button and steps E. through G. will complete the process. IMPORTANT: Do not stop the wizard update at this point or the control will remain in “firmware only” mode.
E. When the Upgrade Wizard completes uploading the scheme, a Save As dialog will be displayed. Accept or change the file name: and then click the Save button.
F. When the Scheme Upgrade dialog is displayed, click the Yes button.

Progress of the firmware and scheme download is indicated by the Downloading firmware and Downloading scheme progress bars.
Note: All LEDs on the Form 6 control front panel will be illuminated during the downloading firmware stage of the upgrading process. Do not cancel the firmware download.

There are two methods to create a ProView 5.0 scheme file from settings on a pre-existing scheme.
1. Scheme File On Disk A. From the ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen, click the top button labeled Convert
next to the label Scheme File On Disk.
B. When the Select a V4.0/V4.0.1 scheme to export settings dialog is displayed, select
the ProView 4.0 or ProView 4.0.1 scheme to be converted. Click to highlight and then click the Open button.

C. When the Select a 5.0 scheme to import setting dialog box is displayed, click and select the ProView 5.0 scheme to have settings import into. Highlight the file by clicking it and then click the Open button.
D. When the Save As dialog box is displayed, accept or change the file name and then
click the Save button.
The newly saved file is located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview50\Form6

Afterwards, ProView 5.0 will prompt you if you want to import another setting. If you wish to do so, choose Yes and then repeat steps C through D. Otherwise, click No and ProView 5.0 will exit to the desktop.
IMPORTANT: After completing the Scheme Settings file conversion, proceed with the recommended Scheme Verification process in Section V of this document.

2. Create V5.0 Scheme File from Settings On Control
A. From the ProView 5.0 Upgrade Wizard screen, click the bottom button labeled Create next to the label Create V5.0 Scheme File From Settings On Control. Using this feature, you will be able to connect to a Form 6 control running ProView 4.0 or ProView 4.0.1 firmware to upload the settings file to the computer.
B. When the Select Connection dialog opens, select the Com port used by your PC for
serial communications and click on the OK button.
C. ProView will prompt you for a password. Enter the case-sensitive device password (e.g., the default password is “Modify”), and then click the OK button.

D. When the Select a 5.0 scheme to import setting dialog is displayed, click to highlight
the ProView 5.0 scheme file and then click the Open button.
E. When the Save As dialog box is displayed, accept or change the file name: and then
click the Save button.
The newly saved file is located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview50\Form6 Afterwards, ProView 5.0 will prompt you to import another setting. If you wish to do so, choose Yes, and then repeat steps D through E. Otherwise, click No and ProView 5.0 will exit to the desktop.

Section IV.
Recommended Scheme Verification Newly created ProView 5.0 schemes or schemes converted to ProView 5.0 using the Upgrade Wizard can be verified using the following procedure. 1. Launch the ProView 5.0 software double-clicking one of the following:

2. The following screen appears:
A. Select Password from the drop-down menu. i. Type the case-sensitive password (Factory Default Password
“Modify”). ii. Click the Login button.
The main ProView 5.0 screen will appear.

B. Select File>Open Scheme from File.
C. Click the Scheme File that was converted and click on the Open button.
The Scheme file name will be displayed in the main ProView 5.0 header.

D. Click on Manage>Oscillographic events.
A progress bar will indicate status of the scheme preparation process.

The Oscillographic Event Manager dialog will be displayed upon successful scheme preparation.
The scheme verification process is now complete. Click the Exit button.
NOTE: If the Oscillographic Event Manager dialog does not appear, proceed to step E.

E. If the scheme preparation was unsuccessful, ProView will display an error message similar to the one shown in the following example.
Clicking the OK button will take you to the Workbench palette where the error occurred.

Section V. Scheme Memory Confirmation This is recommended for Form 6 and Form 6-TS controls that do not have the expanded memory CPU.
1. Select Manage>Scheme Memory Analysis.
The following Memory Analysis screen will appear. The available memory will be displayed as shown below. Example 1. Scheme fits on control with standard memory as well as a control with expanded memory.

Example 2. The scheme will not fit on a control with standard memory and will require expanded memory.
Repeat this process to verify additional schemes. When you have finished upgrading your scheme files to ProView 5.0, close the Upgrade Wizard program and resume operation of your Form 6 or Form 6-TS recloser control.
