Horse● Female Horse is called a “Mare”● Male Horse is called “Stallion”● A young female horse is called a

filly, and a young male horse is called a colt.

● When the baby is first born it is called a foal.

● Most foals are born at night and within 1-2 hours of birth a foal is able to stand up and walk

Cow● Young cattle are called calves. A

young male is called a bull calf; a young female before she has calved the second time is called a heifer

● They can stand and walk on their own very quickly after being born.

● Calves have teeth when they are born, but they are very small and soft. The mother cow chews their food before giving it to the baby cow so they have an easier time and can start practicing.

Pig● A baby pig is called a piglet● A group of young pigs are called a

drift, drove or litter ● A mommy pig, known as a sow, can

give birth on average to up to 12 piglets at one time

● Piglets tend to be born with a pink color and are generally very light skinned when compared to their pig parents

● As they get older and bigger, their body and markings tend to darken and their tiny tail curls will grow!

Cat● A male cat is called a Tom/ Tomcat ● A female cat is called a queen ● A baby cat is called a Kitten ● A group of cats referred as a clowder

or a glaring ● Kittens are born with their eyes and

ear canals closed. Their eyes will open in about seven to 14 days, and their ear canals will open between 10 and 14 days old.

Dog● A male dog for breeding is called a

they are two weeks old ● Puppies are also born without teeth

until they are about four weeks old

Black Panther ● Female panther is called she-panther ● A baby panther is called a cub ● A group of panthers are called a claw

of panthers ● Panther is known as black jaguar in

Latin America, as black leopard in Asia and Africa, and as black cougar in North America.

● At age of 2-3 months, cubs learn how to hunt from their mother.

● Around nine months, young panthers can catch medium-sized prey.

Sloth ● A baby sloth is called a pup ● A group of sloths is called a bed ● The pup clings to its mother's belly

most of the first few months of life and begins to munch on leaves at about 2 months old.

● A baby sloth will stay with its mother for the first year or two of life, and then will move to its own territory, usually just a tree or two away.

pounds when they are born, and are blind and utterly dependent on their mother for food and protection.

● Tiger cubs leave their mother when they are around 2 years of age.

● Tigers usually hunt alone at night time.

● Tigers have been known to reach speeds up to 65 kph (40 mph).

Elephant ● A baby elephants is called a calf● Female elephants is called a cow ● A group of elephants is called a herd ● It weighs about 250 pounds at birth

and stands about three feet tall● Calves can't see very well at first, but

they can recognize their mothers by touch, scent, and sound.

● Baby elephants stay very close to their mothers for the first couple of months.

● The calves drink their mother's milk for about two years, sometimes longer. They drink up to 3 gallons of milk a day

approximately around 16 to 24 ounces and measure 12 inches long.

● It is interesting to note that males are slightly larger than the female cubs when they are born

Seals● A baby seal is called a calf● Female seal is called a cow● Male seal is called a bull ● A group of seals is called bob or pod● When the pups reach about 80

pounds (36 kilograms), their mothers stop nursing them.

● The pups go without food for about six weeks and can lose about half their body weight until they dive in and begin to hunt for themselves.

● The young seals are famous for their snowy white coats.

Moose ● A baby moose is called a pup● Female moose is called a cow● Male moose is called a bull ● A group of moose is called herd● Within their first day of life, calves can

stand up on their own. They weigh around 35.7 pounds (16.2 kg) at birth and grow very quickly,gaining 2.2 lbs. (1 kg) per day while they are nursing.

● After 6 months, calves are weaned. At 4 to 6 years old they are fully grown
