A NOTE FROM WATI SHARRON HOPLEY, RESIDENT MANAGER
Over the next couple of months we will be introducing our guests to the 'present moment', connecting the guests to their life-force and intuition. After experiencing it for myself and watching my team attend a weekly Synthesis workshop, I was amazed to see the effect it had on them, and it totally inspired me to offer the same to our guests. We’ve named it ‘The Secret to Health and Well-being’ workshop, incorporating a fabulous meditative practice and amazing energy tools.!
In addition to that we launched another workshop called 'Self Care', hosted by our very own Spa Manager Yuyun, who will take your skin care regime to a whole new level using luxurious skincare products. Curious? Well, you will just have to visit us to experience it for yourself!!
August brings us two lovely ladies; Lindsey Dayavati and Gayle Bryden who will be holding engaging workshops, enlightening talks and one-on-one coaching sessions. Gayle Bryden will offer the sacred Lomi-Lomi massage incorporating her very own ‘Just-Be’ products.!
September brings us Rachel Bright, an eternal optimist who oozes so much positivity that we simply can't avoid feeling positive too. As a writer and illustrator of children’s books, her playful imagination will bring out your inner child through her art classes and creative nature printing workshops.!
And finally, end of October brings our 4th Oracle Retreat – a life changing experience. Through workshops, coaching sessions, talks and numerous activities led by well-known artists and practitioners from around the world, guests can find happiness through achieving balance of the body, mind and soul.!

reduction. Certain essential oils are particularly effective to help one drift off and improve sleep
quality. Try this simple nocturnal potion shared by aromatherapist and visiting practitioner,

HEALTHY PORTION SIZES
It is not only important to avoid unhealthy foods, but also to avoid over-eating. Portion
control is an important part of healthy eating, weight loss and preventing weight gain. The
Wantilan Restaurant at Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali prepares healthy, organic dishes
daily, abundant with herbs and spices to ensure mouthwatering flavour, and served
according to the recommended portion size for an adult.
5 TIPS ON HOW TO INTRODUCE HEALTHY PORTION SIZES
Tip #1: Split A Serving
When dining in a restaurant, split your meal with a friend or ask the restaurant to wrap up
half of the meal to take home. Portions in restaurants are often much larger than one
portion, so this is a good opportunity to save money and reduce calories!
Tip #2: Learn Serving Sizes
By learning to identify serving sizes, you can better control your portions. A typical serving
size of meat should be about 3 ounces or the size of a deck of cards. A serving of grains
or raw vegetables is about the size of your fist. It is recommended that you weigh your
food initially to get familiar with the portion sizes for each food group.
Tip #3: Use A Small Plate
Eating from a large plate can give the perception that one standard portion is small,
leading you to feel like you're on a diet, making it more likely for you to binge. Using a
smaller plate can make the meal appear larger and more satisfying. Wait 20 minutes to let
the food settle before thinking about seconds!
Tip #4: Eat Several Small Meals
Keep your blood sugar levels even throughout the day by eating several small meals. You
can keep your energy up and consume less calories overall because you do not get
ravenous and over-eat. People who eat 5 or 6 small meals a day are much more likely to
maintain their portion controlled diet because they never become too hungry.
Tip #5: Portion Out Food
When you are craving a snack, make sure to divide up your portion into a separate
container before you start eating as its quite difficult to eat only one portion straight out of
the bag. Also, try snacks that come in 'treat size' portions as they generally have half the
calories of regular servings and should satisfy your craving.
HEALTHY SPA CUISINE RECIPE
Learn to prepare the popular Balinese dish “Pelalah de Sampi” - sautéed beef fillet with long
beans, tossed in chilli-tomato paste. This dish is the perfect starter to any meal, or can be
prepared as one of your several 'small meals' a day. Contains only 200 calories per serving. Ingredients and Method:
2 lettuce leaves!1 large tomato!
85g beef fillet, shredded!4 long beans!
1 fresh lemongrass stalk!A clove of garlic!
1 red chilli!1 shallot!
3 cherry tomatoes!½ tsp of extra virgin olive oil!
1. Add ½ teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil to a pan and put on medium heat.
2. Chop the garlic, red chilli, shallot, long beans and lemongrass and add to the pan.
3. Stir the ingredients and add the shredded beef fillet.
