Baldwyn School District Return to School Plan
2020-2021 School Year
Baldwyn School District remains committed to providing the highest
quality education for all students in a safe and healthy learning
environment.
School Calendar

The traditional schedule will be modified IF there is a significant outbreak of the COVID-19 virus
among our students and/or employees. We will be in contact
with the local and Mississippi Department of Health if this
becomes necessary.

Options for Student Attendance
Calendar & Schedule (On-Campus Students)● Traditional 180 day
student schedule● Students released
at 2:00 pm daily
● School will begin Wednesday, August 17 with ALL students staying at home and completing instruction through paper learning packets
● Teachers will be available during school hours beginning August 17 to provide instructional assistance to students. The learning packets will be graded.
● Learning packets will be available for pick-up and/or dropoff at the schools.
● Learning packets will also be delivered to students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays along with breakfast and lunch meals.
Start of the School Year
● On Fridays, the district personnel will also collect completed packets to be returned for grading and attendance documentation via the bus routes. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the buses will undergo the sanitizing process.
● Teachers will be working in the classrooms, preparing instructional resources and assisting students with any questions with learning packets.

Parents/guardians can elect to change from the online option to the on-campus option 1 time a semester. Online students will have deadlines
to log in and complete assignments. MDE guidance on submission and attendance will be
followed.
Online Learning
Calendar & Schedule (Online Students)
● Teachers will have online office hours from 2:00-3:15 pm to be available to assist students who are participating
in online learning and provide instructional support to students.
Attendance Requirements: Students will have to log in the Canvas learning management system daily as well as complete all daily assignments for his/her classes in order to be counted as present for the day. If assignments are not completed, the student will be marked absent for the day. School attendance laws will be followed in the virtual classroom as well as the traditional. In both learning environments, student absences will be reported to the truancy officer in accordance with state law.

Students that are actively enrolled in the online learning option will be
eligible for extra-curricular activities based on MDE and MHSAA’s guidelines.

● Everyone will have their temperature checked at the beginning of school
● Any person that has fever of 100.4 or above (CDC guidelines) must remain home until he or she is fever free for 72 hours.

Registration
Residency● New residency documents are required
ONLY for new students and returning students’ whose address changed.
● If you are a current student and your address did not change from last year, you do not have to submit residency this year.
Positive COVID-19 TestA student or employee that tests positive for COVID-19 shall follow CDC guidelines.
Face Masks
Masks will be required to be
worn at various times when
social distancing is not possible.
The district will continuously monitor CDC
guidelines.
Two face masks will be provided to all students.
Distance LearningThe district has purchased iPads for all students to use for learning. Students registration forms must be completed to receive the device.
Device Training
Administrators will work with teachers on how to properly
use device for learning. Teachers will assist students.
Parent/student training nights
(following social distancing guidelines) with tech personnel will be announced
later.
Online tutorial videos will be
released to address proper procedures for using iPad for
academic purposes.
Distance Learning
The district has purchased the Learning Management System,
Canvas, for course instruction for both on campus learning and online
learning.
If a school closure occurs, all students will transition to online learning for the
school closure time period.
Buses will operate as normal. Parents are highly encouraged to transport their student to and from school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
