Key Terms
Banner
Administrative software which supports University business needs.
Course Reference Number (CRN)
Unique 5-digit number assigned to a specific section of a course. All registration is done by
CRN. Formerly known as the “call number” in the previous University system.
Rowan ID Number
Nine-digit system-generated number assigned to you for all University business. May also be
referred to as Banner ID. This number is NOT your social security number. You may locate
your Rowan ID Number at rowan.edu/myBanner
Faculty and Advisor Self-Service
Product within the Banner software which allows faculty to view class schedule, student
information, perform registration overrides, and enter final grades. Also known as Self
Service Banner.
Term
Academic semester such as Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.

Login
Go to rowan.edu/selfservice Access Banner Services Select Enter Secure Area
Enter User ID and PIN Select Login
Reset PIN First time login only Set Security Question First time login only Select Faculty & Advisors Menu options may vary

Forgot your User ID? Visit id.rowan.edu and enter your Rowan campus network username
and password. Visit id.rowan.edu if you do not know your Rowan campus network username and
password.
Forgot your PIN? Select the Forgot PIN? button on the Ban-
ner login page to be prompted for your security question and reset
your PIN.

Select Term
Select Term Selection from Faculty Services Menu Select Term and choose Submit
Once you have selected a Term, it will be the default used in each step. To change the Term, return to the Faculty Services menu and walk through the steps above.

Select CRN Selection from Faculty Services menu Select Term (if needed) Choose CRN from drop down menu of sections you are teaching or select Enter CRN Directly to enter any CRN

Registration Overrides
Select Registration Overrides from Faculty Services menu Select Term and/or Rowan ID number (if needed) Select Override Type (Capacity, Co-Requisite, Pre-Requisite, Repeat Waiver, Time Conflict), Course, and choose Submit
Capacity overrides may only be processed within fire code limits.
Select Submit to confirm override Confirmation message appears at top of page
The student MUST register for the course after the Registration Override is performed. The override only allows the student permission to register via Banner
Self Service.

If you have the “need to know” status and are not teaching a course, you will receive the following message. Select Enter CRN Directly and type in the section CRN.

Select Class Lists export to Microsoft Excel from Faculty Services menu. Select columns to export and term Select Export All Sections That I’m Teaching button for current term default settings -or- select section (s) and choose Export CRNs Selected from the List button. Follow download prompts specified by web browser and save file to appropriate location.
Select Photo ID Class Lists from Faculty Services menu to view a visual class list using the students’ photo ID.

PLEASE NOTE: If the student is attending regular ly, select Attended (DO NOT fill in the last date of attendance). If the student has stopped attending, select Attended and fill in the Last Date of Attendance (MM/DD/YYYY) If the student has never attended, selected Never Attended and DO NOT ENTER a Last Date of Attendance.
Select Class List from Faculty Services menu. Select term (if needed) and choose Submit button. Select section (CRN) and choose Submit button. Only the faculty member teaching the section may verify class list. Select Enter under Midterm column.
Select Attended or Never Attended for each student -or- select Change All on this Page to “Attended” to mark all students attended.
When all students on class list are verified, select Submit button at bottom of page. Confirmation displays at top of page and email notification of completion is sent to your Rowan email. Select Check All Sections for Class List Completion from Faculty Services menu to confirm class list verification is complete for all sections you are teaching. Students who have Never Attended will be contacted by the Financial Aid Office regarding possible adjustment of their enrollment status and financial aid award. Students who have Never Attended and students who have stopped attending will be contacted with information on support resources and options available to them.

Select Class List from Faculty Services menu. Select term (if needed) and choose Submit button. Select section (CRN) and choose Submit button. Only the faculty member teaching the section may enter freshman interim grades. Select Enter under Midterm column.
Identify freshman students noted (FR) under Class column and select Interim Grade
When all freshman interim grades are entered, select Submit button at bottom of page. Confirmation displays at top of page.

PLEASE NOTE: When entering failing or incomplete grade
(F, IN) enter Last Attend Date as MM/DD/YYYY. If
student never attended, enter the first day class met.
Select Final Grades from Faculty Services menu. Select term (if needed) and choose Submit button. Select section (CRN) and choose Submit button. Only the faculty member teaching the section may enter final grades. Select grade for each student. Grades may only be entered or changed if Rolled column indicates ‘N’.
When all final grades are verified, select Submit button at bottom of page.
Confirmation displays at top of page. Select Missing Final Grades from Faculty Services menu to confirm grades are complete for all sections you are teaching.

Online Graduation Evaluation
Select Online Graduation Evaluation Tool from Faculty Services Menu Select Term, Major/Minor/Conc. Code, and choose Not Evaluated
Students eligible for graduation evaluation will be listed. Select a Student ID to open evaluation form.
Once the student graduation evaluation is submitted, the student is removed from “Not Evaluated”, and may be viewed by selecting “by Term” or “by Term and Major” buttons.

Accessing Praxis Reporting System in Self Service Banner
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning and the College of Education are pleased to announce the launch of the New Praxis Reporting System. You will now be able to access and generate aggregated Praxis reports by course enrollment, graduation date, and matriculation as well as view students’ Praxis scores (including subscores) using Self Service Banner. Select Student Information Menu from Faculty Services Menu Select Praxis Scores by Student from the menu Enter Student ID and click on Find
