I. Rationale:
To be aware and knowledgeable about the history, background and problems ofBarangay Libjo Batangas City.
Introduction:
In the time of Spaniards , when this Barangay didn’t have its own chosen name and themeans of transportation used is just a simple cart and it is also used by the people herein their daily living especially in their working field.
The carrier of the cart is very careful in using it. Because if the back will be heavier, thecart will become “salambaw’,if the front will become heavier against the back, the cartwill become “liblib”.
One day, a Spanish general went to this area and chose to ride on a cart. The personcarrying the cart asks him to go at the front part of the cart and then the general ask theman about the name of that place.
Assuming that the general was asking about in what part of the cart he is sitting theman answered him “liblib ho”. So after that the general thought that the name of theplace is “Liblib ho”. Just because He is a well known and high official Spaniard General, maybe this is the name he denotes to this place.
This is what the people here call this place. And as time goes by, they shorten the nameand had been transferred from generation to generation until the place has been known
to be “Libjo” Nowadays, this place or this barangay is still well known as Barangay Libjo.
