WE GATHER IN GRATEFUL WORSHIP

Song of Gathering How Great is Our God

Welcome and Opening Prayer (adapted from Psalm 8)1

One: The Lord is majestic and sovereign over all the earth! All: The glory of God is above the heavens! One: Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, a secure and safe place to silence the enemy and avenger. All: When we look to the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that You have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of us? One: Yet you have made us a little lower than God, and crowned us with glory and honor. All: O Lord, our Sovereign God, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Song of Praise Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty (Hymn #482)

Prayer of Confession1 One: The Lord has called each of us by name even before our beginnings. Our Creator God has listened to our hearts and inspired within our minds a life renewed, for the sake of his son, Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit who is at work within us. Come now, let us confess before God and with one another the sins that are before us. All: Majestic Lord, you cannot be contained or abridged. In your loving and merciful presence, we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You know how often we have gone astray. And you are familiar with the gravity of our imperfections. We have foolishly questioned your authority. We have haphazardly confused your abundance. Have compassion on us, Lord, and forgive our iniquities. Help us to worship you and walk in your ways. Live within us and move amongst us, for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
