In 2015, Jim Dietz is completing a decade at the helm of the Lincoln Land volleyballprogram, compiling a 295-119 record in his first nine years. In those nine seasons, theLoggers have been a NJCAA Region XXIV runner-up eight times and RegionChampion in 2012. In addition, the program has had a streak of seven consecutiveseasons with more than 30 wins and finished in the national Top 20 during eightseasons, reaching as high as No. 4 in the nation in 2012 and No. 5 in 2013.

Under Dietz’s tutelage, LLCC had its first All-American selection in 2010, and has hadat least one in four of the five seasons since. In 2013, LLCC alum Emily Orrick wasselected Missouri Valley Conference Libero of the Year twice, as well as MVP forIllinois State’s volleyball squad. That was capped with her being selected as anAmerican Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American in 2014 and beinginvited to try out for the USA National Program this past spring.

Dietz is a respected figure in central Illinois volleyball having built the St. AnthonyHigh School program in Effingham, leading it to its first-ever winning season, regionaland sectional titles, first 30-win seasons (in any sport), as well as its first state-qualifying volleyball team. In just eight seasons, Dietz became the winningest coach inSt. Anthony history (for all sports).

In 2014 and 2015, Dietz served as a USA Volleyball (USAV) High Performanceprogram coach and an evaluator, working at national-level camps for future-selects inLas Vegas and New Orleans. Heavily involved in club volleyball, Dietz has coached allages of teams and helped found two clubs, Crossroads Volleyball in Effingham andCapital Area Volleyball in Springfield. During the summer of 1999, Dietz worked as avolunteer coach for the World University Games team during their training under thetutelage of Jim Stone, now head coach of the U.S. Junior National Volleyball Team.

Before moving to Illinois, Dietz worked three years as an assistant at Ohio State(including the 1994 Big Ten and NCAA Final Four squad) and for one year each withthe Iowa State and University of Illinois volleyball programs.

Dietz has 22 years of experience as an instructor and coach at the high school andcollege levels. In 2013 he published his first coaching textbook titled, “The Human Sideof Coaching” with Championship Productions.

Dietz holds an M.A. in history from the University of Illinois and an M.S. inEnglish/composition from Iowa State University.

Dietz is married to the former Julie Tresnak. They have three children: Erick (21),Brigitte (18) and Michael (14).

Local native Kallie Sinkus is entering her first season as the Loggers’ assistant coach.Before joining the LLCC program, Sinkus completed a master’s degree at theUniversity of Illinois.

Though new to LLCC, Sinkus has extensive volleyball experience, having coachedjunior high and high school athletes at the club level, as well as working with USAVolleyball’s High Performance program.

Before coaching, Sinkus had a distinguished playing career, spending four years atCulver-Stockton College as a setter and libero and previously, as the captain and setterfor Glenwood High’s Elite Eight squad, which featured All-American Hannah Worth.

Jen begins her fourth year as the athletic trainer for the Loggers. She is employed by St.John’s Hospital/AthletiCare. She comes to Springfield from the Bloomington area,after spending two years with Normal Community High School and two years withOlympia High School. Jen received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in athletictraining from Illinois State University. Prior to attending Illinois State University, Jenplayed volleyball for two seasons at Lincoln Christian College (now Lincoln ChristianUniversity). Jen resides in Decatur with her husband, Joey.

A two-sport athlete, Carroll played both softball and volleyball at Bloomington HighSchool. On the volleyball court, she was the Big 12 Conference’s top libero in 2013 and2014, leading the Purple Raiders to consecutive 20-win seasons. Carroll was selectedtwice as a scholar-athlete for softball and three times as a member of the Bloomingtonvolleyball squad.

Hennings was a multi-sport athlete at Central A&M. She was named all-conference andall-area twice in basketball, led A&M to a state title in 2015 and led all scorers in thetitle game. In softball, Hennings was selected all-state. In volleyball, she was all-conference, all-area and named team MVP. Hennings led A&M in kills, blocks andassists, a combination leading to her being named A&M’s Athlete of the Year. In theclassroom, Hennings was a member of the National Honor Society.

Jarrard joins the LLCC volleyball team for her sophomore year as a dual-sport athlete,having played basketball in 2014-15 where she averaged five rebounds/game and 0.5blocks/game. In volleyball, Jarrard was all-conference and all-area for Athens High. Inthe classroom, Jarrard was an National Honor Society member in high school and is anhonor roll student at LLCC. When not playing basketball and volleyball, she is busy asan artist.

Knop was a two-sport star at Stewardson-Strasburg, playing both softball andvolleyball. In softball, Knop was named all-state twice and all-conference four times. Involleyball, she helped lead her team to the state title game in 2013, while being namedthe Shelbyville-area Player of the Year. She was a four-year letter winner in volleyballand first-team All-National Trail Conference all four seasons, the first athlete sohonored since Emilie Walk (2000-2003).

McKinney played for Park Hills Central High School as an outside hitter, helping leadher team to a 24-9-1 record in 2014. A four-year starter for the program, she was alsonamed all-region and all-conference during her time at Park Hills Central High School.McKinney was hampered by a shoulder injury in 2014, but still saw action in 103games, logging time as a defensive specialist, outside hitter and setter.

Perinar played for Minooka Community High School. In 2014, she was awarded theCoaches’ Award, in addition to being named to the All-South Prairie Conferencesquad. An all-around contributor, Perinar was the only Logger athlete to play in everygame last season, finishing second on the team in aces, blocks and kills, and third indigs. Her versatile play meant she was selected to the all-region team as well as the All-Midwest Athletic Conference squad where she was also selected as conferenceFreshman of the Year.

Mueller was a two-time all-conference setter for Francis Howell Central High andteam captain for the 2015 campaign. In addition to her success on the court, Muellerwas a four-time academic all-conference selection, being honored with the Arete SilverShield and S.A.A. awards for her scholastic excellence. Mueller played club volleyballfor Team Momentum in St. Louis.

Ohlsen was a three-year letter winner for Rock Island, leading the team to the bestseason in school history as well as the program’s first three regional titles. As afreshman at LLCC, Ohlsen saw action in every match of 2014, contributing 0.7 blocksper game and hitting at a .306 clip.

Reinthaler was a four-year letter winner at Heyworth, getting significant time on thestate championship team of 2010. An honor roll and academic all-conference student,on the court Reinthaler is a well-rounded individual, capable of playing six rotationsand hitting from any part of the court. In 2014, she saw action in 114 games,contributing 36 aces, 52 blocks and 129 kills.

Sabo was a three-year starter and letter winner at Pleasant Plains High School, winningregional titles all three seasons. A successful multi-sport athlete, Scott was basketball MVP for Carlinville threeconsecutive seasons, selected all-conference twice and all-state in 2015, and named MVPof the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) All-Star game. In volleyball,Scott was a three-time all-conference selection and was conference Player of the Yearfor 2015, in addition to being selected for the Capital Area All-Star game November2014.

Sunderlin was a four-year starter at Claymont High School where as a senior she led herteam to a 24-3 record, while also being honored with selection to the all-conference, all-district, and all-Ohio state team for leading her team in kills and digs. In 2014, Sunderlinled the Loggers attack with 48 aces (a team high), as well as 465 kills (a school record) –more impressive as the previous record was set in more games and games played to 30points instead of 25.

Wienke earned four letters at Heritage High School, where she captained two regionalchampionship teams and was selected first-team all-conference. In 2014, Wienke ledLLCC in assists while making the honor roll and receiving academic all-conferencehonors.

In those two seasons, theschool won its first two regional championships with her as libero, falling just twopoints short of a sectional title in 2015.
