    Based on the appropriate reference,what is OrCAD software(definition ,function and the related

    industry)?

    Definition

    The name OrCAD is a portmanteau, reflecting the software's origins: Oregon + CAD.

    The OrCAD product line is fully owned by Cadence Design Systems. The latest iteration has the ability

    to maintain a database of available integrated circuits. This database may be updated by the user by

    downloading packages from component manufacturers, such as Analog Devices or Texas

    Instruments. Another announcement was, that ST Microelectronics will offer OrCAD PSpice models

    for all the power and logic semiconductors, since PSpice is the most used circuit simulator. Intel

    offers reference PCBs designed with Cadence PCB Tools in the OrCAD Capture format for embedded

    and personal computers.

    Function

    OrCAD is a proprietary software tool suite used primarily for electronic design automation. Thesoftware is used mainly to create electronic prints for manufacturing ofprinted circuit boards,

    by electronic design engineers and electronic technicians to manufacture electronic schematics.

    Related Industry

    About a year ago (~2007) Orcad discontinued their Orcad Layout product. The acquired the Allegro

    pcb design products and rebranded them as OrCad PCB Designer. While I wouldnt call their new

    offering the industry standard is has a very loyal following and is one of the most power autorouting

    packages available.

    There is no doubt in any ones mind who the de-facto industry standard is for circuit simulation. P-

    Spice can simulate complex mixed signal designs and supports a wide range of of simulation models

    available from many of todays part manufacturers.

    PSpice is great for figuring out which component is going to let out the magic smoke first,

    determining component yields via Monte Carlo analysis, or determining if your circuit is actually

    going to meet your performance requirements.

    Discussion

    From the above result we can say that the output is all remain constant. Each output has its constantvalue. All outputs are maintained at the value of 7-9 volts. We also managed to analyze the circuit by

    observing the graph produced. The voltage, current, and transient analysis can be get by using the

    parameters. We managed to get know the parts and symbol and comparing the result from the

    graph we obtained.

    Conclusion

    From this experiment 2 we know the voltage drops and current flow by drawing the schematic after

    the simulation.in additional we know how to use VIEWPOINT and IPROBE. We also had managed to

    get the function of an OrCAD software. It is a software that has been used to draw a complex circuit

    with enough horse power to run it. It helps alot the engineer to analyze and getting a suitable circuit

    before it is being made. It is a suitable software to be used in industrial area to help engineers on

    their circuits.
