What a fun day! I would also like to thank the BBT and all of the parents for providing the fantastic lunch for our teachers on conference day. I know organizing such an endeavor can be a challenge, but it is truly appreciated by our staff!! Thank you also to all of the families that attended parent/teacher conferences. At last count, our teachers were able to meet with 97% of our families in person and are working to complete those last few conferences with families that were unable to attend. Due to snow days and illness, we have unfortunately had to postpone our Iirst grade music program. I am so appreciative of our families and their Ilexibility as we worked to secure a new date for our program. The program is now scheduled for Monday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the BLHS auditorium. If you have neighbors, friends or relatives with children ready for Kindergarten next school year, please tell them about Kindergarten Roundup scheduled for April 3-5. Please see the link in this newsletter or the BES website to sign up. Families with questions may call our ofIice at (913) 724-1038. Our kindergarten roundup parent information night is scheduled for March 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the BES gym. Kindergarten students will not attend on those three days so teachers can meet our newest students and allow them time to acclimate to kindergarten. Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss! Students are participating in fun activities on Friday, March 1 with a surprise teacher switch for story time. Students may wear Dr. Seuss shirts and/or hats to celebrate on Friday. March starts a busy month for our BBT as we look forward to the annual BBT Talent Show. It will be held at the BLHS auditorium on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. I’ve heard there will be some famous stars making an appearance for the talent show, so please plan to attend! 1st Grade has a visit from Schlagle Library.

From the Library:As we work through this

month of February, remember, Spring really will come.

I know that with the many snow/ice/cold days it has been tough to keep up with what day your child needs to have their books back. If you don’t still have an A-E calendar you might request one from the school.

My thanks to everyone trying to keep up with this.

We have been looking at Non-fiction books and Black History books in 3-5. We’ve also been looking at biographies. We’ll also be looking at resources for research in 3-5th.

K-2 has been looking at Non-fiction books also as well as looking at some new fun authors.

Next month we will be highlighting Dr. Seuss!

Save the date note. The BIS bookfair will be held April 8-12th. Our big family night/art show will be on Monday, April 8th. More info. will come home later.

Thanks, as always, for your support of library and reading. If you ever have questions don’t hesitate to e-mail me!
