Thejobskillsprofilesdescribebasicskillsthatarepartofworkingpractice,andarebasedoncompetenceobjectives.Employerscanascertainwhatskillsneedtobestrengthened,andemployeescanseewhattypeoftrainingtheyneedintheareasofreading,writing,verbalcommunication,basicmathsandITskills.
Theprofilescanbeadaptedtoindividualandlocalneeds.Theydescribethelinkbetweenbasicskillsandtheemployee’sactualworktasks,andmakeiteasierforthetrainingmanagertodeviseappropriatecourses.
Theprofilescanalsobeusedforordinaryvocationaluppersecondaryteachingandcanbeusefultoolsinmakingcommoncoresubjectsinvocatio-naltrainingmorework-related.

READING On a daily basis the carpenter will read: • constructiondrawingsandplans• theworkordersfortheday• thesafetyinstructionsfortheconstructionsite• signsandpostersontheconstructionsite
Regularly the carpenter will read: •documentsanddeliverydocketsonreceiptofgoods• checkliststhathavebeencompletedbyothersatthe constructionsite•HSEinformation•Manufacturer’sproductandassemblydescriptions• detailedjobspecifications• codesofpracticeandupdates• environmentalandwastedisposalplans
Occasionally the carpenter will read: • extractsfromrelevantActs,technicalregulationsand plans• trainingmaterial,e.g.onfirstaid,HSEorforapprentices• informationforemployees• thehygrometer• thecompany’sinternalproceduresandinstructions
Readingandwriting
WRITING On a daily basis the carpenter will: •writeshortnotestohim/herselfortoothersatthe constructionsite• completeformsandchecklistsforworkqualityand deviations•writeworkreports,e.g.overviewofmaterialsused• logincidentsinhis/herownwork• completetimesheetsandworkinghoursforms
Regularly the carpenter will: •drawupworkplans• registerworkcompleted•writedetailedlistsofequipmentandtoolsneededto completeajob•documentbuildingmaterialsusedonajob• completeworkordersandadditionalordersforthe customer’sapproval
