WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES
School
Prepares for
Emergencies
According to John Quinlan, “Preparedness is
the only way we can combat natural disasters.”
Having this in mind, the school informs everyone
that the Fire Drill and Earthquake Drill will be held
on August 01 and August 03 respectively. The
disaster preparedness activities are conducted at the
beginning of the school year to ensure that everyone
knows how to keep oneself safe when disasters
strike.
For the old students, this will be a refresher
on the standard operating procedures that they are
supposed to follow in case of fire and earthquake.
For the new and young students, this will be an eye-
opener on how to protect oneself.
Everyone is expected to listen and to act
according to the safety procedures, and move fast to
beat the target of a two-minute evacuation time.
SMALL STEPS to
INDEPENDENCE
Mufti Day is the time for the students to build their school spirit by observing a particular
theme every first Wednesday of the month. It is the time for them to be creative and to be
resourceful. For this academic year, participation of each class in the Mufti Day will be included
in the new initiative of the Student Councils- the Class Mover Award. Details regarding the said
award will be released in the upcoming issues of the SP Bulletin.
For the month of August, the theme is “What I love about the Philippines”. Thus, the
students can ignite their patriotism by showing through their attires the things, people, places or
events that they love the most about our country. They could explore from wearing shirts with our
national symbols or festivities to wearing our very own Barong Tagalog and Baro’t Saya. There
are a lot of ideas to choose from, all they need to do is to be more creative and at the same time,
imaginative in order for them to show their unique interpretations of the theme.
There will be a special Mufti Day on Friday, August
o4. The students can wear clothes which have the school
colors- maroon, navy blue, and silver gray.

Discipline Policy Guidelines
Released Today
The Discipline Policy Guidelines of the school
is attached to this bulletin. These guidelines cover
the basic rules and regulations concerning
discipline that the students are supposed to observe.
This policy is already in place for three consecutive
years, and is strengthened by the Class Ticket
System. Class tickets affect the Deportment grades,
thus, it is expected that the guidelines will steer the
students to achieve the Good Citizens Award at the
end of the term and the Values Excellence Award at
the end of the year.
Please turn-in the Acknowledgement Slip of
the Discipline Policy within three days upon receipt,
in this case on or before Wednesday, August 02.
Do you need a pencil, a ballpen, a pad
of paper or different coloring materials? Name
them because we already have them! The
school’s cafeteria is now offering different
school supplies. The students may already avail
of the things that they need for their school
works in a very convenient way. We do value
all your feedbacks and comments in last year’s
institutional survey, that is why this is being
done in the spirit of continual improvement.
On July 31, 2017, we will start the full implementation of the I.D. system for parents and
guardians. Those who do not have I.D.s will not be allowed to enter the metal gate leading to the lobby.
If there is a necessity to go inside without the I.D., parents and guardians will have to undergo the usual
log-in procedures and request a temporary pass which is time-consuming and burdensome for both
parties. The I.D. system ensures safety and security within the campus, such that the people who get
inside are the ones acknowledged and authorized to pick up and deal with the children.
As what we’re always emphasizing, our dear students are our pride. Thus, we always make
sure that they will be recognized. To ensure that our presence is felt in the community, the school is
continuously improving the face value of its collaterals in print and online and we need fresh faces to
feature. If you would like your children to appear in our collaterals (tarpaulins, brochures, website, and
blog) please fill out the reply slip in this bulletin.
Please wait for a minimum of five minutes after dismissal time before asking the proctor to
page your children. Sometimes, it takes time for the students to fix their bags and put everything that
they need to bring home.
We would also like to remind the fetchers to wait in the lobby while our Kuyas and Ates are
bringing down the bags of the children.

OF THE WEEK
PARENTING CORNER What’s New in the
TWENTY-TOO GREAT Years of SSIS? The success of a student anchors on his or her grit to achieve, and the
continuous support of and partnership between the parents and the teachers.
For those parents who were not able to attend the Parents’ Orientation, we
would like to share to you every week through this SP Bulletin the highlights of
the Orientaion for your information and guidance:
The world is changing at a rapid pace. Technological advancements have
accelerated, and have influenced greatly our way of life. To prepare our
students to these technological advancements, the school is integrating
Robotics in its curriculum as one of the components in the ICT subject. As
early as Senior Kindergarten, the students will be taught on how to
assemble the Uaro Robot. The students from Grades 1-2 will be taught how
to operate the Robo Kids, while the students from Grades 3-6 will get to
enjoy the Vex IQ Robots. In the High School Department, the students from
Grades 7-8 will also use the Vex IQ Robot, while the students from Grades 9-
12 will explore on the use of the Arduino Robot. Educational Robotics is a
transformational tool for learning, computational thinking, coding, and
engineering, all increasingly being viewed as critical ingredients of a
globally prepared learner.
With the aim to produce students with the 5Cs (Competence, Character,
Collaboration, Commitment to Achieve, and Creativity), the school came
up with a new and improved Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs).
This is also to ensure that our students will be holistically developed
individuals who can meet global demands.
We are very proud to announce that this Academic Year will surely be a
historic one! That is because this year, the school will have its pioneer
graduates of Senior High School. The school already started the
implementation of the 12th Grade in the Senior High School Program. Thus,
the students will be able to earn an internationally recognized diploma
without going out of the country.
Generation Global is a pioneering global education program for students
who are 12-17 years old. By providing global learning and dialogue
opportunities, it helps young people to be more aware of the social
conditions and issues that different nations around the world face. Last
year, some selected students from different levels in High School
participated in the said activity. The students were engaged in a dialogue
with students from Indonesia and India. Since we want the students to be
exposed to global issues and to develop their communication skills, for this
year, all the students from the Junior and Senior High School will have the
chance to be part of the Generation Global.
