PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Goals: Goodbye 80’s. The owner’s wanted to create a master bathroom retreat that reflected the modern bathrooms they experience when traveling. Specifically, they wanted to create an open plan that honored the existing footprint and allowed them to use this new space as they continue to age in their home. Included goals are a shower for two, a safe / free standing tub, multiple lavs, storage, privacy for the stool, better lighting, more natural lighting, better use of space and updated finishes. Don’t forget to make the bathroom feel “Girly”.

Challenges:

• Creating a waterproof wet room

• Balancing storage at the vanity while achieving two lavs

• Privacy – from both inside and outside the bathroom

• Protecting the plumbing from freezing on exterior walls

• Thoughtful storage

Solutions: Creating this bathroom retreat is easy. Just figure out how to make it feel bigger while staying in the same footprint. The answer is – Wet Room. Yup, this space absorbs the free standing tub and the shower built for two. Not your everyday bathroom space. The vanity, linen and toilet now have more than enough room to spread out in the remaining space. Entering the bathroom is aided with a change in door swing.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This directs you into the great new views that this bathroom now has. The door rests up against an obscure floor to ceiling glass panel for interior toilet privacy. Straight into the bath is the large floating walnut vanity with indirect lighting beneath. Plumbing is protected from freezing on the exterior walls with a newly built hidden inner wall. One wide lav with two wall mounted lav faucets is modern, provides separate plumbing and more importantly, gives more space for his and her full extension drawers on each side of the lav. Those aren’t drawers under the lav. Its two cabinet doors that match the exact profiles of the flush drawer fronts. Great Look. A hidden wooden panel that is buried into the thick quartz side panel with the waterproofing liner supports that floating vanity on one side. The linen cabinet has tons of storage and outlets for charging electronics.

The wet room will provide extra space should the need ever rise for bathing assistance. A separate handheld shower to help in bathing and cleaning the room with a safe, free standing tub are included in this space. Additionally, a taller vanity, accessible storage, comfort height toilet, tons of lighting and clean finishes will help the owner’s as they age with this space.

Wall to wall, floor to ceiling glass sparkled tiles in both the wet room and the bathroom. A hanging chandelier, recessed cans, wall mounted lights, under vanity lighting helps to provide light and mood. A stand-off wall mounted mirror, decorative insulated glass window panel for both natural light and privacy (no blinds) from the neighbors, great tile, hardware, tile and color selections and a clear glass wall system all help to tie this space into a bathroom for today and into the future. Oh, and it’s Girly.
