  • Program Contents:The Eastern Suffolk BOCES Summer Enrichment program is being offered for students who have completed any grade from Kindergarten through Grade 6. The program will begin with breakfast from 8:00 AM-8:30 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 8:30 AM and continues until 12 noon. The afternoon program runs until 4:00 PM. An optional extended day is available from 4:00 PM–5:30 PM.

    Full Day: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMHalf Day: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PMFull Day to Extended Day: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

    Program Activities

    Science and Math Enrichment CoursesHands-on science and math classes are designed to make ALL students get excited about the world around them. Sample programs include: Drones, Video Game Design, CAD, Snap Circuits, Oceanic Exploration, Claymation and Virtual Field Trips.

    Literacy CoursesStudents will participate in small groups specifically designed to develop literacy skills and engage students in their learning. Students should have fun as they design and author their own creative works. Sample programs include: Cooking-Up-a-Story, Enchanted STEAM Fairy Tales, Book Creator, Comic Creator, Mock Trial, Candy Making, Once Upon a Time with Bots.

    Reading Adventures- Reading for AllStudents will explore a wide variety of texts by participating in small reading groups at their instructional levels and will become involved in activities related to their reading. Reading Adventures will use fiction and non-ficition to engage students as they learn how reading can expand their world.

    Field TripsField trips in the afternoon program will be offered as an option to all full-day students and the cost is included in tuition. The trips are to the Long Island Aquarium, New York Hall of Science and Splish Splash.

    How many sessions are there?There are three sessions lasting 2 weeks each. All registrants must enroll for two week intervals.

    Is transportation provided?Parents will provide transportation to and from the program.

    Is breakfast and lunch provided?Breakfast and lunch are provided.

    Swimming- Students (with parent/guardian permission) will be bused at least one day a week to the Town of Islip Byron Lake Pool. Students not going will join the regular afternoon schedule.

To ensure the safest environment possible, all children attending each field trip will be required to wear their ESBOCES Summer Enrichment T-shirt.

    Field trips are available for all Full-Day students and all associated costs are included in the tuition!!!

    This FINtastic destination features one of the largest all-living coral reef displays in this hemisphere, a 120,000-gallon shark tank, year-round sea lion shows, African Penguins, Marmosets, numerous touch tanks and more than 100 exhibits including the lavish indoor gardens of our Butterflies, Bugs & Birds Exhibit! Students and staff are required to wear ESBOCES T-shirts.

    The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) was founded at the 1964–65 World’s Fair and has evolved into New York’s Center for Interactive Science, serving a half million students, teachers, and families each year. Students will explore the 450 interactive displays. Students will also view a movie in a Dolby 3D Digital Cinema. Students will also participate in the Science Playground. The Science Playground at the New York Hall of Science is the largest science playground in the United States. The Science Playground fosters science learning through personal discovery and participation. Students and staff are required to wear ESBOCES T-shirts.
