Jennifer Leechik, RN, BSN, CNephC, is a renal nurse clinician at BC Children’s Hospital working specifically with families and children who are on peritoneal dialysis.

Adeera Levin, MD, FRCPC, FACP, is a professor of medicine and head of the division of nephrology at the University of British Columbia and executive director of the BC Provincial Renal Agency. She is chair of the Curriculum Committee for the National KRESCENT (Kidney Research and Education SCientist EducatioN Training program), secretary general of the International Society of Nephrology, and serves on KDIGO, an international guidelines development group.

Ruth McCarrell, RN, BSN, CNephC, is a clinical nurse leader for the living kidney donor and pre-transplant programs at St. Paul’s Hospital. Ruth has been instrumental in bringing nationally recognized excellence and innovation to the transplant program, helping to launch new programs including the living anonymous donor and the living donor paired exchange programs.

Malcolm Ogborn, MBBS, FRACP, FRCPC, is the associate vice president, research (health), at the University of Northern British Columbia, clinical professor of pediatrics (nephrology) at UBC and director of the Northern Renal Program. He is a member of the Northern Health Medical Advisory Committee, the Regional Medication Safety and Quality Committee and oversees the Pediatric Mortality and Morbidity review at UHNBC.

Matthew Oliver, MD, MHS, FRCPC, has been the director of dialysis at the Academic Teaching Hospital for ten years. His focus is in home dialysis, assisted PD and vascular access.

John Pawlovich, MD, FCFP, is a clinical associate professor at UBC and a telehealth consultant. His interests include primary care for remote First Nations communities.

Bobbi Preston, BSW, MSW, RSW, is a renal social worker at the Abbotsford Kidney Care Clinic. Her healthcare experience includes chronic disease, LTC assessment, complex care, palliative care and psychiatry. Bobbi sits on the advisory council for the school of social work at UFV and co-chairs the FH Nephrology Social Work Shared Work team of the FH Practice Council Network. Her passion is client-centred interprofessional practice.

Michael Schachter, MSc, MD, MHA, FRCPC, completed residency training in nephrology at UBC in 2009, followed by an administrative fellowship (BCPRA), master’s in health administration (UBC) and home dialysis fellowship (UofT). His major research projects involve wait times for outpatient nephrology consultations, as well as the virtual ward and clinical outcomes in home dialysis. He currently works as a locum nephrologist in BC.

Daniel Schwartz, MD, FRCPC, is a nephrologist with a keen interest in the intersection of information technology and medical practice. He has specific expertise in knowledge translation at the point of care via the development of medical apps for web, iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry. He is the medical director of kidney services, Fraser Health, and a clinical assistant professor of the faculty of medicine at UBC.

Suneet Singh, MD, is the medical director of peritoneal dialysis at VGH. Her major area of clinical work is in home dialysis – both peritoneal and home hemodialysis. Her other major area of interest is in medical education. She is involved in medical school teaching.

Manish Sood, MD, FRCPC, is a staff nephrologist at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. He has published over 80 combined papers, abstracts and book chapters. His research focus is on clinical epidemiology and ESRD outcomes; specifically, he has investigated aboriginal outcomes on PD/HD and transplantation rates.

Sarah Thomas, BSN, CNephC, is a CNL and home hemodialysis patient educator at Providence Health Care and the Richmond Community Dialysis Unit. She has worked in home hemodialysis since the implementation of the IAMHD program in 2004.

Diane Watson, RN(EC), MSc, CNephC, has worked for over 30 years in nephrology from nurse’s aide to nurse manager. She is currently a nurse practitioner at Toronto General Hospital focusing on individuals starting dialysis acutely to provide education, management and support to encourage home modality.

Colin White, MD, FRCPC, is a clinical associate professor at UBC and director of the dialysis and fellowship program. He has been a nephrologist at BC Children’s Hospital for over 12 years with interests in late stage CKD and dialysis. He is also interested in developing protocols and algorithms that bring evidence to the “bedside” and empower non-MD directive care.

Linda Wright, MASc, MSW, RSW, leads the bioethics program at University Health Network, Toronto, which has a large organ transplant program. Her academic activities are on the ethical issues in organ donation for living donors and methods of increasing organ donation from deceased donors.

John Gill, MD, MS, FRCPC, is an associate professor of medicine with tenure at UBC. Dr. Gill is an active researcher whose interests include clinical outcomes of kidney transplantation, access to care, clinical trials and health services research. He is the president of the Canadian Society of Nephrology, chair of the American Society of Transplantation Education Committee, and associate editor of the American Journal of Transplantation.

Greg Grant, MD, FRCPC, is the provincial executive director for BC Transplant. Dr. Grant also works as an intensive care specialist at St. Paul’s and Mount St. Joseph’s Hospitals.

David Hunt, JD, is the president and chief executive officer of Critical Measures, a management training and consulting firm that specializes in cross-cultural healthcare. Mr. Hunt is a sought-after national and international speaker on issues of racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare and the legal aspects of providing culturally and linguistically appropriate care.

Hema Joshi, MD, FRCPC, is a psychiatrist and works in the area of consultation – liaison psychiatry at Royal Columbian Hospital, where they provide service to the medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetric, cardiac and renal services in the hospital.

Mohamud Karim, MD, FRCPC, is a Fraser Health Authority clinical nephrologist with an interest in end of life care. He was medical director, renal program, Fraser Health Authority from 2001 to 2011.

Paul Keown, MD, DSC, is professor of medicine at UBC and director of immunology. His expertise is in both clinical and laboratory aspects of transplantation with a special focus on immunology and molecular genetics.

Mercedeh Kiaii, MD, FRCPC, is the director of the hemodialysis unit and vascular access program at St. Paul’s Hospital. Her career interests include optimization of hemodialysis therapy and vascular access.

S. Joseph Kim, MD, PhD, MHS, FRCPC, is a transplant nephrologist in the division of nephrology and the kidney transplant program at the Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network. He is the vice president of the Canadian Organ Replacement Register Board of Directors, co-chair of the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients Technical Advisory Committee, and the associate head of the kidney, dialysis and transplantation program at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences.

David Landsberg, MD, FRCPC, is the head of the division of nephrology and the medical director of the renal transplant program at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. He is the medical lead for renal transplant for BC Transplant.

Sarb Basra, MSW, RSW, is a renal social worker with the Fraser Health Kidney Care Program (CKD). She contributes to advance care planning and end-of-life care initiatives, development of patient and family education, healthcare communication training, and the advancement of transcultural and diversity practice. She speaks Punjabi and Hindi.

Chris Brown, RN, is a patient educator on the peritoneal dialysis unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. She worked on the Royal Columbian Hospital unit for six years prior. She thinks PD is for everyone!

Katie Cave, RN, BScN, CNephC, is the patient care coordinator of the Abbotsford Regional Hospital peritoneal dialysis unit and is passionate about increasing awareness of PD. She enjoys finding new ways to support PD patients whether they are at home or in acute care facilities.

Kathleen Collin, BSc(Pharm), ACPR, works with the nephrology division of BC Children’s Hospital as a clinical pharmacist. She is a clinical instructor with the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences of UBC and the clinical pharmacist for the solid organ transplant program at BC Children’s Hospital where she provides care to pediatric heart, liver and kidney transplant patients.

Michael Copland, MD, FRCPC, is the medical director of kidney services, Vancouver Coastal Health/Providence Health Care and provincial medical director of independent hemodialysis. He is also a clinical associate professor at the faculty of medicine, UBC. His clinical focus is on general nephrology with specific interest in independent dialysis.

Connie Davis, MN, ARNP, is a nurse practitioner specializing in care of the older adult. Much of her work focuses on improving interactions between clinicians, patients and families. She is the author or co-author of publications on health promotion, chronic illness care, quality improvement, and self-management support and works internationally to improve patient engagement in care.

Martin Duffy, RN, has ten years of renal nursing experience including transplantation and renal critical care, PD community and in-centre HD. He is currently a HHD educator focused on patient-centred care and patient education encompassing informed decision making.

Jagbir Gill, MD, MPH, FRCPC, is an assistant professor of medicine at UBC, a research scientist with the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences, and practices as a transplant nephrologist at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. His research interests include transplant epidemiology and health outcomes in the areas of access to transplantation, immunosuppressive management and organ donation.
