AN OVERVIEW OF THE ORGANIZATION The Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) is a non- profit professional association founded in 1975 in Philadelphia, PA. BDPA has grown into a national organization of over 40 chapters spanning 28 states. BDPA Chicago was chartered March 16, 1986. The Chicago chapter is currently the largest BDPA chapter. BDPA-CHICAGO OBJECTIVES * Expand and enhance the technical and professional expertise of chapter membership. * Encourage the membership to share their accumulated expertise with the student population with specific interest directed towards the black community. * Contribute to the broadening of information technology awareness appreciation within the black community. * Contribute and enhance the present level of information technology of the nation as a whole. BDPA Chicago has as its membership a network of over 200 talented individuals from all aspects of professional life. Organization membership is open to all regardless of race, sex, religious beliefs or national origin. As an organization we are comprised of entrepreneurs, educators and systems professionals. More than 50 major American corporations are represented in the BDPA-Chicago membership roster. BDPA Chicago is governed by a Board of Directors. This board is comprised of six elected officers and 10 appointed department directors. The board meets the first Monday of each month to discuss management of programs and activities of BDPA Chicago. BDPA CHICAGO - MONTHLY PROGRAM MEETINGS The monthly Program Meetings for the Chicago Chapter of Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) are held every 3rd Friday at the Amoco Building.
