THEME

• Because I could not stop for death is about a dying woman being ridden by the gentleman----death. Death rides her through the School, where Children strove at Recess in the Ring, the Fields of gazing grain, the Setting sun. Finally, they got to the House, which is actually the grave. The writer encourages us not to be afraid of death.

• School stands for childhood.• Gazing Grain stands for adulthood.• Setting Sun stands for later life.• The fourth stanza is talking about the setting

sun passing the speaker. The setting sun means the life is going to end. So the speaker feels cold because she is dying.

DEATH = ETERNITY

• We will finally realize that DEATH is similar to ETERNITY .

• Since life is just like a circle, death is just a part of life, a part of stage of life.

• Time and life are forever lasting. Even though we die, time stills works and life will become eternity.

• The writer tries to tell us not being afraid of death and encourage us to slow down and enjoy life.
