However, for those con- sumers ready to sit, sip and savor the com- plexities of Belgian ales, this is a wonderful style to include on any beer journey. Sometimes listed as a Belgian Dark Strong, Belgian-style Quads are deep am- ber to amber brown in color, somewhat dry and have a low to a mild hop bitterness (20 – 35 IBUs). Obviously very high in alcohol, these brands range from 8% to 12% ABV, and are all about a balanced blend of flavors and aromas of sweet, rich malts, dark fruit, caramel, bready yeast, pepper, and warming alcohol.
