At four times the alcohol by vol-ume (ABV) of the Belgian Sin-gle or Belgian Pale ale, the Bel-gian Quadrupel is not a style

that you will fi nd yourself recommending to every customer. However, for those con-sumers ready to sit, sip and savor the com-plexities of Belgian ales, this is a wonderful style to include on any beer journey. Sometimes listed as a Belgian Dark Strong, Belgian-style Quads are deep am-ber to amber brown in color, somewhat dry and have a low to a mild hop bitterness (20 – 35 IBUs). Obviously very high in alcohol, these brands range from 8% to 12% ABV, and are all about a balanced blend of fl avors and aromas of sweet, rich malts, dark fruit, caramel, bready yeast, pepper, and warming alcohol.
