Before you teach this lesson • You will need the graphs on the last slide printed – 1 per student, for cycle one (LO1) • The video file is downloaded and needs no internet connection • Slides 6 and 7 are additional evaluations for cycle 1 – not needed but pose nice challenges as per the titles I have given them. • For cycle 2 You will need enough laminates of each graph to cover the number of 3s you have (7-10?) – don’t spend too long on this, I’ve timed it on the slide • Cycle two will need you to have printed off tables for them to complete (slide 13).

A good description: World population increases over time. Between 1650 and 1850 population increase is linear and increasing steadily (by a similar amount each time). Between 1850 and 1950 the rate of increase grows and beyond 1950 population increase is exponential.
