IM Class Sydney Excursion On Tuesday 8th November the IM class travelled to Sydney for a 3-night excursion. We stayed at the YHA in the Rocks and managed to get a little sleep each night!

On Wednesday, we caught the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo. We got put into groups and explored the Zoo, including watching the seal show. It was great! We saw lots of different animals and took photos of them. Some of us watched an elephant show and the Zoo trainer made the elephant kick a soccer ball and NRL ball. The elephant even balanced on a log! Later in the day we went to the lemurs adventure walk and then off to the bird show. The birds flew right over all heads! It was amazing!

On Thursday, we had Pancakes at the Rocks for breakfast then walked to Sydney Wildlife Aquarium. We walked underneath the shark tank and travelled on a boat through the Arctic to look at the penguins. After the Aquarium we walked to Chinatown and Miss Hudnall bought us some traditional Chinese bakery treats to try. Some of them were yummy but we didn’t like the Egg Tarts! We then walked to Paddy’s Markets and wandered through all of the stalls. Some of us bought some things to remind us of our trip.

On Friday, we made our trip back to Bega. First we caught the train to Nowra and then jumped in the car and drove for 3 hours back to school.

We all had lots of fun and can’t wait to go on another big excursion!

Support Unit End of Year Concert The Bega High School Special Education’s annual End of Year Concert is taking place in the school hall Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th December 2016.

The concert is in two parts with individual music and drama acts making up the first part. After a short intermission we will present our version of the classic musical, The Wizard of Oz.

Years 7 to 12 students from all support classes will be participating in the concert and some mainstream students will also be helping out as performers and back stage helpers.

The concert is the culmination of a year’s work in our student’s Creative Arts program with students painting and making sets and costumes as well as learning character roles, songs, choreography and acting skills.

The photo below shows the main characters from the musical in their costumes. I am sure that any one that attends will be amazed at the effort our students have made to put on such an entertaining show.

Bega High would like to extend a warm welcome to you all members of the school community to attend one of the performances. A gold coin donation will be appreciated (to go toward next year’s concert costs).

2WayExchange Experience Choose France, Canada or Italy

Twice the Experience - at a Fraction of the Cost

2WayExchange

The 2WayExchange Experience involves you in a unique exchange program where Australian students are ‘matched’, with a student in either France, Canada or Italy. You choose which country and spend 3 months with each other’s families and attend school. It amounts to twice the experience and at a fraction of the usual cost of a 3 month exchange program.

You Host Your family host a carefully matched exchange student for 3 months from Aug – Oct for France/Canada (before you travel for your 2WayExchange experience) and from Jul – Sep for Italy (after you return from your 2WayExchange experience). Your matched exchange student will attend your school or a local school and become part of your family. Host families welcome their exchange student into their family life - with all the rights, responsibilities and privileges of other family members. Hosting is on a voluntary, unpaid basis.

You Go You travel to France or Canada or Italy from November – January. You will partake in an orientation and sightseeing trip and you will live with the family of your exchange partner. You will attend their school or a local school and become part of their family. You will be expected to fit in with normal household routines including chores.
