Here, you matter. Here, you belong. Here, you are.

INSIDE THIS ISSUE A Year in Pictures Annual Impact Report Stories of Belonging
Here, you belong. I know of no greater purpose than this: to help everyone understand that they matter, and that they belong. Peaceful Living does its part in fulfilling this higher purpose by creating belonging for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In the past year, our passion and commitment have driven us to show the world a different way—a way that says, “We are all in this together, and now, more than ever, is the time to work side-by-side for the common good of all.”
When we speak with parents, students, donors, community partners, church members, and anyone else who will listen, our message remains the same: Join us as we make the world a better place by creating belonging.
In these pages, you will see pictures of, and read stories about people who belong, thanks to so many of you.
You will also read about members of our staff who, in the past year, have exemplified our Anabaptist values with such dedication, that they were named our inaugural Core 5 (Culture, Character, Collaboration, Change and Connection) award winners. Without team members like them, we would not be able to provide the excellent services that we do.
Whether through your prayers, financial gifts, time, or collaborative partnerships, we are grateful and honored to work with you as we aim to fulfill our mission.
Sincerely,
Leland Sapp, CEO
P.S. We hope you enjoy this sneak peek at just a few of the new elements of our refreshed brand, which will have a full reveal this May!
Our Mission To create belonging for as many individuals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities as possible.

2019 Celebration of Belonging Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, and worked to make our annual event a brilliant success. We were thrilled to honor Jan Foderaro for her tireless dedication in creating belonging in both her home and community.
Because of your support, the event far surpassed our expectations:
• Over $73,000 was raised to create belonging for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Three chartered bus trips (one for each Day Program site) were fully funded by donors during the live auction
• Celebration House will open to serve three more individuals and their families because of start-up support from generous bidders
• A Residential Services trip to see the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs was paid for by donors
Planning for the 2020 Celebration of Belonging is already underway. We want to see you there!

Spring 2020 5
ResidentialHere, we are home.Individuals from our residential homes thrived both at home, and out in the community.
For instance, a growing monthly bible study program has gone from gathering around a kitchen table, to having close to 60 regular attendees in the newly established Belonging Faith Community hosted by the Souderton Mennonite Church.
Blessing House became our 11th residence—Celebration House will soon become our 12th.
At Salford Mennonite Church, they shared an evening of learning with an ambitious group of students at the SMC Peace Camp.
And at Villanova University, we explored the campus while Dan went for the gold—and got it—at the Special Olympics.

“Peaceful Living’s efforts and sincere desire to help our son consistently exceed
our expectations. We’ll be forever thankful for what they have brought out and nurtured in him.”
– PARENT OF RESIDENTIAL SERVICES INDIVIDUAL
“It’s so comforting to know that our daughter is with dependable people
that really care about her.” – PARENT OF DAY PROGRAM INDIVIDUAL
Day ProgramsHere, we discover. It was a year of great discoveries at each of our three Day Program locations (Delco, Indian Valley, and Peace Valley).
Days were spent in museums, where new interests were explored, and in theaters where new forms of culture were enjoyed.
With the warm weather came plenty of outdoor activity, such as a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, while favorite sports were learned by both playing and watching them.
Spring 2020 7
Family ServicesHere, we challenge perceptions. Our participants in Family Services once again proved that there is so much more to them than what may be imagined.
They stayed fit with Zumba, visited museums, learned new cooking techniques, and mastered the skill of plarning (the process of creating sleeping mats for the homeless by weaving together plastic shopping bags).
A few of our individuals have become so skilled at doing this (such as Marisa and Robert pictured above), that they taught Nationwide employees and Ursinus College students how to work the loom.
8 Belonging
“I enjoy going to the events. It gives me the opportunity to get out of my house and
have fun. I like the activities, and recommend it to others.” – FAMILY SERVICES PARTICIPANT
Whether giving or receiving, connecting in our community is core to our mission. Community partners like the Community at Rockhill and Gwynedd Mercy University created belonging by giving their time and effort.
Peaceful Living participants enriched the lives of seniors in our community when delivering for Meals on Wheels, and contributed to global relief efforts by volunteering at Care and Share Thrift Shops and the MCC Material Resource Center.
With funding from VNA Foundation of Greater North Penn, and in partnership with the Souderton Area School District and the Indian Creek Foundation, we were able to offer resources for families of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our Mapping the Future project—a series of transition workshops about funding, goals, and services.
