PRAYER OF CONFESSION Heavenly Father, We cannot thank You enough that the light of Christ has shone in our hearts. You have brought us out of the darkness and into Your light. But too often we stumble back into the darkness. Our lives are still marked by old habits and ways that do not declare Your glory and grace. Forgive us for our selfishness; forgive us for faithlessness; forgive us for not loving others in Your name! We need your grace! Have mercy on us. We pray in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
(Please continue in a moment of silence for personal confession.)
ASSURANCE OF PARDON Revelation 4:9-10 Leader: Worthy is the Lord Jesus to take the scroll and to open its seals, for He was slain and by his blood he ransomed us for God. All: He ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation and He has made them a kingdom of priests to our God, and we shall reign together on the earth. Leader: This is the Good News. All: Thanks be to God!
Enter Reverently. Meditate Quietly. Worship Devoutly. Leave Gracefully. Serve Christ Faithfully.

GriefShare will resume Monday, February 24, 6:30-8:30 p.m., in Room 104. You’ll find the weekly support group to be a warm, caring environment, and you will come to see your group as an “oasis” on your journey through grief. Ash Wednesday Service: Please join us for an Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 p.m. February 26 in the Sanctuary as we will mark the beginning of the Lenten season. We will come together to acknowledge our sin, to acknowledge our mortality. As part of the worship, the imposition of ashes will be offered. This practice may not be familiar to everyone. Ashes have been used in Christian churches to mark the beginning of Lent since at least the 10th Century, and ashes are mentioned in scripture as a symbol of purification and repentance. We will offer the imposition of ashes as a physical reminder of our mortality and sin; an assurance of God’s forgiveness and salvation. Classes will be offered for children in second grade and younger. Older children are encouraged to attend Ash Wednesday services with their parents. Women’s Retreat: All women of the church are invited to the WiM Fellowship and Fun Retreat at the Farm from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 29, that will include devotion, crafts, and lunch. In the event of rain, the retreat will be held in the indoor facilities at the farm. Black Water Farms is a beautiful privately owned farm at 2026 Fire Tower Road, 10 miles from Irby Street straight out National Cemetery Road. After a devotional time together we will break up to enjoy craft lessons or to just enjoy the company, conversation, and fellowship with others. Season of Prayer: We Will Seek God for the City from Ash Wednesday (February 26) through Palm Sunday, with other area churches in a season of prayer for our community. We’re doing this because God works and acts as his people intercede. Seek God for the City prayer journals are available in the Welcome Center. A $1.50 donation is appreciated. Also, there will be two City Wide Prayer Gatherings during this initiative (on Feb. 27 at Ambassadors for Christ at 7 p.m. and then another on, March 28, at First Presbyterian Church. Please join us. Church Directory: Photography for our upcoming directory event is this week! We’ve had a great response, and all our appointments are filled. With a goal of photographing 100 percent of our covenant partners, we need our remaining families to sign up on the wait list. Lifetouch will have a make-up date if there are enough families on the wait list. If you haven’t scheduled a time, please call the church office, 843-662-2583, or email [email protected] to add your name to the wait list. Did you know? Every participating family receives a free 8 by 10 portrait and a printed and electronic copy of our directory.
Wednesday Night Programs: Please join us for Family Night Dinners, adult electives, and children and youth programs. Dinner starts at 5:45 p.m. and the 6:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday service will be held in the Sanctuary. Wednesday’s planned menu is chicken pot pie, cinnamon apples, salad, rolls, and ice cream.
Keenagers: The noon luncheon on March 3 will feature Nick Townsend as the guest speaker. The planned lunch menu will include pork tenderloin. Please join us in the Jenkins Fellowship Hall for a splendid time of fellowship and fun. Children’s Church and Message: On Sunday, March 1, Deacon Caroline Genoble will be leading Children’s Church during the 9 a.m. worship service and Covenant Partner Amy Dozier will be leading it during the 11 a.m. service. Gretchen Page will be presenting the Children’s Message during both services. Youth Ministry
