Flex-N-Gate Alabama
Locates and Brings Over 100
Jobs to the Bessemer Area The Bessemer City Council approved
a tax abatement package to Flex-N-
Gate Alabama at its Oct. 20th meeting.
The package is expected to bring 107
new jobs to the city by 2017.
The company is embarking on a
$23.9 million project to expand its
facility on Bay Drive to produce front
end and rear bumpers for Nissan.
Flex-N-Gate currently has about 180
employees at the facility.
Company representatives said the
package will help keep the 180 jobs
in Bessemer, since the facility was
competing with another facility in
Mexico for the project.
Alabama Department of Transportation Upgrades Coming

The third project ALDOT is sponsoring is the realignment and upgrades of the railroad crossing at 14th Street (Highway 150) between First
Avenue North and Hall Avenue.
Mayor Kenneth Gulley has proclaimed October 19th – 23rd as National Business Women’s Week for 2015 in the City of Bessemer.

The City of Bessemer’s Paint the Town Pink and Purple Parade
Honorable Mayor Kenneth Gulley, Senator Priscilla Dunn and School Board Member Claire Mitchell, led the second annual Pink and Purple
Parade. The parade is was honor of October being Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every 9 seconds in the US a
woman is assaulted or beaten. Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused
during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. The chance that breast cancer will be
responsible for a woman's death is about 1 in 36 (about 3%).

Ambassadors are the key
resource in extending
hospitality in the Bessemer
area and are experienced
in business, community,
and promotional arenas.
An Ambassador must
serve as an active public
relations arm of the
Chamber and be prepared
to meet visitors, local
businesses, and various
forms of the media.
We encourage you join the
ambassador program. The
ambassadors meet on the
1st Tuesday of each month
at 8:30am at the Bessemer
Area Chamber of
Commerce.
