BEST PRACTICES ON ENERGY MANAGEMENT

INTRODUCTION

The oil industry through its whole value chain, as well as the generation of electrical energy in Latin America

and the Caribbean, face the challenge of operating its production units in an efficient way to ensure the

industry competitiveness and consequently the competitiveness of the countries to which they belong; as

well as minimize the environmental impact.

OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP

• Exchange experiences, best practices, lessons learned regarding the optimum use of energy among

professionals of the Industry in Latin America and the Caribbean;

• Exchange experiences regarding to the application of new technologies and share the industry challenges;

• Analysis of new trends on energy management, taking into account the new environmental protection policies.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

• Professionals from oil refineries, petrochemicals, major surface facilities of oil and gas; and electric

energy generation.

• Professionals from governmental organizations, universities, research and development centers dealing

with the optimization of energy use.

TOPICS SCOPE

1. Implementation of energy management programs (ISO 50001); sizing and responsibilities of the energy

management teams.

2. Energy efficiency and environment (climate change and Paris Agreement).

3. Implementation of energy audits, assessment of results and implementation of action plans.

4. Cost of energy in the chain of oil and gas production, refining and petrochemicals.

5. Management of steam networks, measurement and computer systems.

6. Management of steam loss, traps maintenance, condensate recovery.

7. Best practices of gas flaring management system.

8. Electrical energy management systems in large industrial facilities (PMS), distribution levels, electric

motors in higher levels of voltage, advantage of the replacement of steam turbines by motors,

replacement of large turbines to condensation total by electric motors, examples of implemented

practices, etc.

9. Optimization of energy use in oil and gas pipelines.

10. Consumption and decrease: performance indicators (KPIs).
