Bethany researched the Port Washington Draft Riots. She actually traveled to the city where the riots took place. She translated letters written at that time.

Abby and Kelsey contacted Lisa Gerard, Kelsey’s cousin, who is presently in the military. She is a captain in the Signal Corps, U.S. Army. She is currently stationed in Lafayette, North Carolina. She proved to be a valuable source. She gave the girls her opinions on what she felt about being a female in the military today. Additionally, she provided additional information directly from the U.S. Army. The girls’ topic is Women’s Responsibilities in the Military: “The Right To Fight?”

Brooke extended her research by traveling to Madison and visiting the Wisconsin Historical Society. There she found many primary sources on here topic, Ada James. Through these primary sources, she was able to locate and then interview one of Ada James’ living relatives in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Brooke’s topic is Governmental Responsibility: Ada James, Suffrage Warrior of Wisconsin.
