I am happy to report that

    B-schools in the Eastern

    Region of India.

    04 www.bimtechbbsr.ac.in

  • Establishing and commencing a B-School from

scratch is a daunting and challenging task for anyone

as it takes years to get recognized and accepted by all

the stakeholders. In an era of consolidation and

divestment among B Schools, Birla Institute of

    Management Technology, Greater Noida supported

by the BK Birla Group of companies, under the aegis

of Birla Academy of Art and Culture decided to launch

a second campus in Bhubaneswar, Odisha which

    commenced in August 2013.

The Bhubaneswar campus, started its flag-ship

    programme in PGDM a full-time, two-year, AICTE

approved, residential campus on the outskirts of

Bhubaneswar in 2013, in a lush green sprawling 30-

acre campus with unique architectural design

depicting Odisha culture & massive pillars indicative of

Birlas strong value system. Holding high the banner

of Excellence with values, as a management

institute we at BIMTECH Bhubaneswar try to

inculcate the guiding principles of excellence, ethics

and values amongst our students while shaping and

sharpening their mindsets by the academic rigor.

The campus equipped with modern IT infrastructure

comprises of students from pan-India, representing a

mini-India culture, with strong focus on social

sensitiveness. Emphasis is placed on creating best-

of-the-best academic environment & exposing to real-

life situations of corporate world by faculty members

from premiere institutions like IIMs/XLRI & IITs &

experienced professionals from industry. In short the

efforts are to prepare the students to hit the ground

    running.

I am happy to report that we have fared pretty well in

our first year of operations and are emerging as a big

challenge to other B-schools in the Eastern Region of

India. This is reflected in the overwhelming response

received in the intake of our second batch of students

which doubled the first years intake.

The students of the maiden batch have undergone

Summer Internship at reputed companies and have

received good reviews from their industry mentors.

On behalf of the management and faculty colleagues, I

extend warm greetings & felicitations to all our

prospective recruiters and welcome you to

Bhubaneswar campus for our maiden selection

    process 2014-15.

BIMTECH Bhubaneswar welcomes you all !!!!

  • FROM THE

    COORDINATORS

    DESK

It feels like just yesterday that the new campus at Bhubaneswar

started its operations. But already a year has gone by!

When the new government took over, Indian stocks rose and

there are larger expectations from all stakeholders aimed at

inclusive growth and development. The recent Union Budget

2014 termed Pro-Growth by the Indian Corporate sector has

paved the way for new players to enter the market.

Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook says India has the

potential to become the largest economy in the world. The

current Indian economy is expanding and providing

opportunities for investors to enter the country and also creating

job opportunities for the booming intellectual capital in the

country. Both public and private sector look for talented people

    with knowledge and skills.

In this scenario, BIMTECH Bhubaneswar faced immense

challenges in the initial days of its commencement; however, the

students of the PGDM 2013-15, our maiden batch, have

successfully completed their summer internship at reputed

organizations and are now gearing up for their final placements.

It is my pleasure and privilege to invite and extend a warm

welcome to all corporate recruiters to BIMTECH Bhubaneswar

for our maiden campus season 2014-15.

    more relevant.

Class Room Guidance by Experts: The class room guidance, with the combination of directions from tenured professors

and external industry experts, prepares a candidate on the fundamentals and industry practices simultaneously.

    Pedagogy

The teaching pedagogy is a mix of lecture and case-

method basis with high focus on self-learning,

    collaborative learning and practice. Simulation,

Management Games, Role Play and other teaching

techniques are used in the classroom for greater

    effectiveness.

detailed course plan designed in accordance with the

    syllabus.

collaboration with top B Schools of the world to provide

International exposure to the students and the faculties.

The strong belief is that outstanding ideas come from

crossing traditional boundaries and hence we promote:

student exchange, faculty exchange, partnership with

    international universities and organisations; research

    projects for students, research sharing and collaboration;

joint certificate programmes, dual degree programmes,

emerging market programmes, joint seminars and other

academic activities to enhance the graduation

    experience.

    Student Exchange

Student exchange presents broad based benefits and

outcomes for students keen to embark on this

    international academic adventure. International learning

and knowledge propels students towards acceptance

and understanding of an array of different academic,

    cultural and community perspectives.

In 2012-13, BIMTECH received over 85 students from

partners in Austria, France, Mexico, Morocco and Spain,

UK and USA. 60 students went abroad on exchange

programme and internships to Austria, Bangladesh,

Finland, France, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Thailand,

and USA in the previous academic year. Our students also

got full scholarship from few International Institutions for

    their academic assignments.

  • THEODYSSEY TO NCR

The major purpose of the trip to the NCR was to visit, the industries working in and around Noida, and thereby

getting to know and perhaps also witness the ground running realities of an industry from a managerial point

of view. Hence the trip can be tagged to being part of the learning process in a way that exposure uplifts the

knowledge & experience of a student. The trip also provided an opportunity for the institute to plan brief Pre-

SIP workshops for us conducted by doyens of various studies and industry experts.

The workshops held comprised lectures on business etiquette, presentation skills, summer internship &

possible projects within finance, marketing and operations domain and internship report writing.

Students visited four industries in the region:

A visit to Paswara paper factory in Meerut threw light on how

used paper procured from overseas is recycled to produce

new quality ones. From the nature of the visit it could be

deduced every part of the factory was indirectly spouting the

fact that Any waste is not necessarily a waste. Hence this

visit to paper recycling factory was the most quintessential part

of the trip which highlighted the students about industrial

waste growing at an alarming rate and the need to address it.

The next visit to Yamaha Factory situated at Surajpur gave an

opportunity to look into technical details of a 2-wheeler

manufacturing plant. The third visit to Dabur factory, in

Sahibabad showed the marketing strategies employed in the

FMCG industries. The visit also included a plant visit to R&D

labs and then to the manufacturing and packing section.

The fourth visit to Moser Baer gave an insight into the manufacturing

process & storage of CDs including quality factors and measurement

methodologies. The visit also provided an opportunity to celebrate the

New Year at Gr.Noida campus and an otherwise impossible

opportunity of visiting Dasna jail in Ghaziabad (CSR activity)

distributing clothes and playing cricket with inmates where Gr. Noida

had started a library under the aegis of the Ranganathan Society.

Thus, in conclusion this entire industrial exposure helped us to

broaden our outlook and to a great extent to climb up the learning

    curve of education.
