1. You are provided with solution A. Use it to carry out the followinginvestigations
(a) Test solution A as indicated in the table below and record yourobservations.

(i) To 2cm2 of A in atest
tube add 3 dropsof
iodine solution
(ii) To 1cm3 of A in atest tube add 1cm3
ofBenedicts solutionandboil.
(iii) To 1cm3 of A in atest tube add lcm3 ofsodium hydroxide
solution and shakewell. Add copper IIsulphate solutiondrop wise and shake
(b) Rinse your mouth with clean water then collect 2cm3 of saliva by
spitting in aclean test tube. Add 2cm3 of saliva to 2cm3 of solution A in the test
tube.Leave the mixture to stand in a water bath at 35 40oC for 10
minutes.
(i) Add 1cm3 of Benedicts solution to 1cm3 of the mixture aboveand boil.
Make your observation and conclusion.

and shake well. Add 2 drops of copper II sulphate solutionand shake
