Immune response • White blood cells are an important part of the

human immune response. Two types of white blood cells, nuetrophils and macrophages, act as phagocytes. Phagocytes engulf and destroy Bacteria.

• Allergies are an example strong response to a harmless antigen in the environment.

• Vaccinations are weakened viruses or antigens that create "memory cells", which will function later to create antibodies against certain pathogens

Antibiotic resistance

• Over prescribing antibiotics for non-bacterial infections has caused many bacteria to mutate and become immune to antibiotics

• Antibiotics only work to kill infections caused by bacteria.
