All deep ones encountered to date appear to be female. They dw ell in the far north, found in the deep cracks of the arctic ice. D eep ones are know n for kidnapping small children or young adults w ho w ander too near the icy ocean shoreline w hile alone. Though greedy, deep ones w ill alw ays honor a bargain once it has been struck, a trait that can sometimes be used to trick them out of a captured child or other coveted item. The fate of the children the deep ones steal is uncertain. Some say they are taken dow n into subterranean cities w here they are slow ly transformed into deep ones over time. Sometimes these children can be spotted sitting on an icy ledge overlooking the w ater. They are alw ays on a seaw eed tether w hich the deep ones use to pull them back into the ocean should any humans approach.
