Prefixes are groups of letters attached to the beginning of words to make a new word with a
new meaning.Prefix meanings:
"re" - again"un" - not"dis" - not
Example: "pack" is a verb that means to put things away in a container, like a suitcase. If we add the prefix "un" to the beginning of
pack, we get "unpack." This means to not pack or take out of the suitcase what we placed in
the suitcase.
Un+friendly= unfriendly (not friendly)Un+glue – unglue (not to glue)
Un+healthy = unhealthy (not healthy)Re+paint = repaint (paint again)

What is it?Cinco de Mayo celebrates a special victory for Mexico. Cinco de Mayo means "the fifth of May." People in the United States and Mexico celebrate this day.The Battle of Puebla:Long ago, France wanted to rule Mexico. A battle broke out in Puebla, Mexico, on May 5, 1862. The Mexican army fought hard and defeated the French.French and Mexican Conflict:The Mexican president made Cinco de Mayo a holiday. The Mexicans and the French continued to fight for several years. By 1867, the fighting was over.Cinco de Mayo in Mexico:In Mexico, people celebrate Cinco de Mayo with dancing and singing. There are parades and speeches. They watch fireworks at night. Many people in the United States were born in Mexico. Others have Mexican ancestors. All people can celebrate this day with festivals, food, and music.

What Is It?Independence Day is a U.S. national holiday. It is always on the fourth of July. On that date in 1776, the American colonists declared their independence from Great Britain.The Story of Independence Day:In the 1600s, people from England sailed to America. These colonists were ruled by the king of England. He made the colonists pay taxes that they felt were unfair. The colonists wanted to be free.Fighting for Freedom:England and the colonies began the Revolutionary War in 1775. On July 4, 1776, the colonists wrote the Declaration of Independence. The colonies won the war and became the United States in 1783.A National Holiday:

3) R2D2 earned 133 cents. What coins might he have if he was paid with quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies?
4) Luke and Rey searched for stones on the beach at Ahchto. Luke found 72. Rey found 92. How many shells will Rey have to share with Luke so they will both have the same amount of shells?
