STYLISTOCRAT BY R & R PRESENTS: THE ANATOMY OF THE SUITYou didn’t know you were getting a fashion lesson today, did you? Use this model as your guide...

So the question has been to go Custom Suit or Off the Rack? This is a no brainer with Stylistocrat! But, let’s explain why and break down the Stylistocrat Anatomy of the Suit...

1. SINGLE OR DOUBLE BREASTED?

The first and perhaps most noticeable element of the suit is whether it is single or double-breasted. Single-breasted suits have a single row of buttons down the front, and the jacket flaps only overlap enough to permit buttoning. A double-breasted suit has two rows of buttons, and the front overlaps sufficiently to allow both flaps to be attached to the opposite row of buttons. The choice between single-and double breasted is a matter of personal taste, though the vast majority of American men choose single breasted option may account for the single-breasted suit’s dominance. Thin gentlemen, particularly those who are somewhat taller, can benefit greatly from double-breasted suits, as they will give a fuller appearance to the figure; on larger men, double-breasted suits can have a tendency to draw attention to the midsection, so careful attention and an expert tailor should be employed.

2. WHAT IS A NEOPOLITAN SHOULDER?

The tailors of Naples have become famous over the last ten years, in part because the rise in popularity of brands like Kiton.

There are three things that can distinguish a Naples-made Naples-inspired coat shoulder. The first is a lack of padding. The second is a pleated sleevehead. And the third is what the Neapolitans call the spalla camicia, or “shirt shoul-der.”

Now, sometimes this latter is confused with the Neapolitan shoulder. But this is a mistake. The spalla camicia is a detail that is a specialty of Neapolitan tailors, but it is not in itself the necessary and sufficient criterion for a Neapoli-tan shoulder. Some Neapolitan coats are made with it, some aren’t. Some tailors like to do it, some don’t

3. LAPELS

Lapels come in a variety of styles with a number of options. The lapels’ width is perhaps subject to the most variance, with the extremely narrow lapels of the 1950s standing in stark contrast to the excessively wide lapels of the 1970s. As is the case with much of classic fashion, the most timeless lapels are of a moderate width. In addition to different widths, suit lapels come in two styles: notched, which has a wide V-shaped opening where the lapel and collar join; and peaked lapels are equally classic, though the latter are most commonly found on double-breasted jackets.

4. Waist Buttons

A suit jacket has either one row of buttons or two, depending on whether it is single - or double- breasted. A single-breasted jacket has a single row of buttons, numbering anywhere from one to four, though two and three are the most common. The three-button jacket is the most traditional configuration, taking its cue from English riding jackets; properly worn, it gives the illusion of height. Traditionally, only the middle or second button is fastened when standing, though the top two buttons may be fastened to produce a slightly more formal appearance. Two-button suits are a slightly later innovation, and because they show more of the shirt and tie, can produce a slightly more slimming appearance. Only the top button of a two-button jacket is fastened; with the exception of a jacket with only one button, the bottom button of a single-breasted jacket is never fastened.

Double-breasted jackets most commonly have either four or six buttons on each side - where there are six buttons only the lower four are for buttoning, though due to the design of the suit, only two will actually be buttoned at any given time. There is also an extra hidden button on the reverse of the outside flap of a double-breasted suit, onto which the inside or “hidden” flap attaches. Contrary permitting it to flap around wildly; it is always securely buttoned upon standing and remains buttoned until one is again seated.

5. Sleeve Buttons

There are numerous historical reasons for jacket sleeves bearing buttons, from encouraging the use of hankerchiefs, to allowing a gentleman to wash his hands without removing his jacket, a traditionally grave social offense in mixed company. Whatever the reason for their arrival on jacket sleeves, they now form an important part of the detail work or trimming of the jacket. Most traditionally, jacket sleeves bear four buttons, though it is not uncommon to find three. I prefer five on my custom suits. Regardless of number, there should be at least as many of them as there are buttons on the waist, and they are always placed within a half-inch or so of the hem. Always make sure on your bespoke suit and made-to measure jackets, the sleeve buttons are functional. When the buttons are functional, the temptation to leave one button undone in order to draw attention to the feature is a matter of personal Stylistocratic taste.

6. JACKET POCKETS

The most formal are jetted pockets, where the pocket is sewn into the lining of the jackets and only a narrow horizontal opening appears on the side of the jacket. These pockets, being nearly invisible, contribute to a very sleek, polished appearance, and are most frequently found on formal-wear. The next style, the flap pocket, is slightly less formal, though it is perfectly acceptable in all the circumstances where a gentleman is likely to be in a suit. Flap pockets are made identically to jetted pockets, but include a flap sewn into the top pocket, which covers the pockets opening. These are the most common pockets on suit jackets, and in the very best, are fabricated so that the wearer may tuck the flaps inside, mimicking the jetted pocket. There are also diagonally-cut flap pockets known as hacking pockets, though they are some-what less common; the hacking pocket is derived from English riding gear, and is most prominent on bespoke suits from English tailors, particularly those traditionally associated with riding clothes. The least formal are patch pockets, which are exactly what the name implies: pockets created by applying a patch to the outside of the jacket. Patch pockets are the most casual option; they are frequently found on summer suits that would otherwise appear overly formal, as well as on sports jackets.

Some jackets, particularly bespoke and finer made-to-measure offerings, include a small ticket pocket above one of the side pockets, generally on the same side as the wearer’s dominant hand. This pocket is rarely used in modern times, and serves more as an indication of your suit’s quality.

7. FIND THE LINING

Eye-catching linings were once a hallmark of only the more expensive suits. Now you’ll find them at lower price points. Iridescent fabrics, intriguing patterns or stripes can make slipping off your coat a statement of style.

VENTS

Moving on from pockets we find the vents, flap-like slits in the bottom of the jacket which accommodate movement and offer easy access to the trouser pockets. Jackets have three styles: center, side or none. Vent-less jackets, just as the name implies, have no vents, and are popular on Continen-tal suits; they provide a very sleek look to the back of the jacket, though they can lead to wrinkling when the wearer sits down. Center-vented jackets, very popular on Ameri-can suits, have a single slit at the back, allowing the jacket to expand at the bottom when sitting. Because of its placement, center-vented jackets have a habit of exposing the wearer’s posterior, though most seem not to mind, as center vents remain the most popular style. A side-vented jackets has two vents, one on either side, generally just behind the trouser pockets, to provide easy access. Side vents also facilitate sitting more easily, moving as needed to prevent the rumpling of the jacket back, which leads to creasing.

Yup, still use this as your

reference, we’re making it pretty

easy for you fellas....

1. THE WAIST BAND

There is more to a pant waistband than meets the eye. If done properly, waistbands are time-consuming to make, but their functionality make them a requirement. Whether the garment is a custom suit or a pair of custom dress slacks, its waistband features a string pleat band that moves and expands with the wearer.

2. THE BUTTON CLOSURE

Most suit pants and dress slacks will use a combination hook -and-eye closures have a tendency to come unfastened uninten-tionally and break or fall off over time. Proper trousers feature a triple button closure that helps ensure that the pants stay fastened and flat.

3. LINING TO THE KNEE

Soft, pliable lining to the knee aids both comfort and aesthetics. Easily taken for granted, the lining absorbs sweat and is essential to the pants’ drape.

Now switch it on over to this

visual aid...

4. HEM & HEEL GUARD

The beauty of a well-turned hem is that it helps keep the pants’ crease stiff by using the added weight to give the pants more perceived body. This is what makes cuffing pants such a popular option. Proper etiquette dictates that flat-front pants be paired with an un-cuffed plain hem.

A NEWLOVE

By Stylistocrat by R&R

Maybe you’ve already discovered them, but they’re new to me at Stylisto-crat by R&R. As a lover of everything fashion, my attention was brought to Zanzan Eyewear, a two year old company out of England. Here’s a little about them:

Zanzan is an independent eyewear brand operating out of London and New York.

The creative team behind Zanzan, Megan Trimble and Gareth Townshend, intro-duced the brand in 2009 to drag

sunglasses out of the opticians and onto the catwalk. You won’t find Zanzans in opticians or sterile sunglasses stores: Zanzan sunglasses only sell in the world’s best fashion boutiques, alongside the beautiful clothes their sunglasses compli-ment. Fashion eyewear for fashion lovers.

Megan and Gareth drew on their flirtations with photography, fashion and design to offer up a free-spirited English style sensitivity to the curdling conservatism of the European eyewear industry. Thus Stylistocrat & BIZZY B Magazine share an appetite for culture in all it’s glorious guises and created Zanzan as an expression of this passion.

THE NEW RED FOR FALL

Urban Decay has some great shades, and they’re on sale for only $8!

Also try Trish McEvoy!

By Jessica Payne Myler

Hi ladies!

The leaves are starting to change and there is a nice chill in the air, so you know that fall is just around the corner!

One of the hot make up trends spotted on the runways including Gucci and Gievenchy is a mulberry lip. It’s time to go to your nearest Sephora and try on the best shades that are wearable for day to day and also the best for your skin tone. Remember the lights in the store can cause the true shade of the lipstick and/or gloss to look different as opposed to when you step outside into the natural light outside. So pick a few shades to try and request some samples, wear it for a day or so and see looks best on you before you make the purchase.

Right now, Urban Decay has their lipsticks on sale for $8 (regularly $22.00)!! Try ‘Apocalypse’ for the daring and ‘Pistol’ for the more modest berry lips...happy fall!

Don’t get so wasted that he is unable to drive his date back home

He should not be sneaking his own popcorn and soda into a movie

Keep your phone on silent, and don’t text or take a call while on the date

Don’t talk with your mouthful

Do not talk about previous bad relationships or mention your last boyfriend/girlfriend a million times

Don’t wear color contacts on the first date

THE ALLSTARSWho knew that having fun in high school and hanging out with your crew would lead up to three mix tapes dropping and a team that is built to win? Well apparently this group of guys did, and with that being said, BIZZY B would like to introduce you to the ALLSTARS.

We had a chance to sit down with this talented group to get the inside story...

We started our own crew called, ‘The Crew’ in high school. We never wanted to be a part of gang, so we found fun in making fun of gangs. We came up with our own colors, throwing parties and just having fun with everyone who wanted to interact with the crew. After some time, the movement got really serious, as the brother hood grew, we began to lean on each other for problems that we were having within our own families. It didn’t take us long to realize that all of us have different talents, and that putting them together, we could build a winning team!

Kid Money, Leo Spade, Zada Swisha, AR Creator and Don’t Brat formed from their child hood crew, to a team that has been built up to win and succeed-- The AllStars.

These guys have been making their mark around Atlanta, hitting up open mic shows and hosting their own open mic in Riverdale, Georgia, at the Point.

The AllStars say that music is an art, it is what we love to do, we never say that we don’t do music with anybody, our motto is, we do music with everybody! A huge part of our brand is living free, thinking smart and loving God.

We have built a team that works hard together from the beats production, to the writing; we execute everything in house, and have a fabulous mentor, Gold Mine, who helps with our branding. You can look for diversity in our music--singing, rapping and you may ever catch a techno beat! Some of the artists we look up to is Lil’ Wayne, Diddy, Jay-Z and Waka Flocka, just to name a few; they are all artists that we have and continue to learn a lot from.

BIZZY B has to ask...what makes The AllStars a BIZZY B? “We are always out working, staying BIZZY, music is our life! Look out when you hear the chant, we are the AllStars, you know who is in the building!”

{You can catch up with the AllStars on Facebook at facebook.com/crewallstar1, on youtube.com search Leo Spade 7 and follow them on Instagram at AllStar Cr3w}

Dex and Bobby Drac, also known as the talented group, Beat Geeks, formed their group back in college. They both shared a love for music and have been around other music groups in the past, but once they connected their beats began.

Dex started singing at the age of ten, and soon began recording at seventeen-years- old. She comes from a musical background, as her mother was a singer, and her Uncle was in a band. Bobby Drac played the drums while in middle school then, “grew into a rapper faze" in high school, which quickly spiraled upward into creating his own beats. ‘The Artist Formerly Known As Prince’ was a big inspiration for Bobby Drac, and with this, he began to craft an image of wearing a special customized mask for his shows. The mask aided him in forming his unique identity, yet while he loved performing, his main skill was production. Their music ranges from all different sounds and genre’s--techno to hippo mixes.

The Beat Geeks hard work and dedication paid off when they opened up for one of Atlanta’s own, Ludacris. With 4,000 people at the concert, they ”learned a lot at this concert.” From slip and falls on stage, to learning from Luda what it takes to be a "next level artist." Their management learned the same and began hustling for ways to gain TV exposure, which led them to their songs debuting on MTV's "Jersey Shore", E's "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and Oxygen's "Bad girls club", just to name a few.

BB: What was the feeling when you first heard your music on TV?Beat Geeks: It was amazing, exciting, and so unexplainable.

BB: What do you do on stage for your crowd?Beat Geeks: We create performances that are going to keep the crowd engaged and able to participate in whatever we do!

BB: What artist do you love and would love to work with?

Beat Geeks: Dex says, Mj and Mariah Carey, but I would love to work with Nicki Minaj, Prince and Lady Gaga.

BB: Is music the only thing you do, career wise?

Beat Geeks: No education is very important to us. So Dex is currently enrolled in GSU and I (Bobby Drac) at AIU.

BB: What is the name of your album?

Beat Geeks: Our album is completed is called ‘Energy’ with our featured single ‘Party in the Air’

Mykelti Williamson, famously known for his character portrayal as “Bubba” from the 1994 American Epic film, Forrest Gump, took the time to share his experiences on the big screen. Mykelti talks smoothly about his forthcomings in the business and how he eventually became seasoned…literally in his branding.

Raised into acting at a young age, Myketi started his career as a member of The lockers on Soul Train. Stick-ing with acting as his first career choice, he took acting classes at USC and finished up at Gene Evans Motion Picture school with his certificate in Cinemotology/Film production. You may recognize him from major films such as Miami Vice, Wild Cats, Waiting to Exhale, Final Destination, and of course, Forrest Gump. Mykelti vividly remembers appearing on set to audition for the role for the Academy Award winning Forrest Gump, “It was almost like a joke. They really didn’t think I was going to audition for the roll. And then me and Tommy Hanks connected and the rest was history!" Ever since then, he's enjoyed much success in the acting world!

Varying in different roles as an actor in “Get Rich or Die Tryin, Twelve Angry Men, The Fugitive, and starred as a main character as a special agent in season 8 of "24". Still fairly humbled and low key Mykelti says he prefers to drive normal cars while his wife rather live a little more “blinged out.” He reminisces on times in his career where he was confused about the way black people were viewed. He shares how previously, on a set in Africa, while filming with fellow world famous actors, he realized that everyone wanted to know the words to the rap songs and it was no longer a feeling of alienation, yet a feeling of relief to be apart of a culture of trend setters.

BB: Lets start with your acting career. We know you’ve had amazing experiences with some of the most elite actors but what was the biggest thing you always tried to remember while on set going through rough times of confusion?

Mykelti: Never disrespect us and be a man no matter what I was doing.

BB: For people who may not know you so well but may want to remember you for something, what can you say?

Mykelti: People are always watching you so stay prayed up and keep the light on. There’s no shame in my game.

BB: Lets get to you the yummy part! What made you start the seasoning line?

Mykelti: I thought how can I be a blessing to you. And I wanted to come up with a different taste with low sodium yet all natural.

BB: Could you make a special plate for BIZZY B?

Mykelti: I always open up the house to cook for friends.

BB: We know you make many dishes but whats your favorite?Mykelti: My favorite would have to be the catfish gravy.

BB: Whats next for ‘Bubba Style?’Mykelti: The next step is to get the seasoning on Kroger Shelves.

BB: Where could we find recipes and special blends?Mykelti: Everything is up on my website at www.bubbastyle.net

Bizzy B took a glance at the websites and found special gifts filled with spices for your loved ones so be sure to take the time to visit the site yourself!

Mykelti carries on his conversation to explain his growth in the movie industry, becoming true family with other actors on various movie sets. With his natural nature for giving back, he said he began doing this second passion, cooking. Only he was cooking in the houses or movie trailers for the cast members, crew and their families. He grew to be the talk on set and everyone looked forward to his cooking and recipes for seasonings. Mykelti quickly grew acclimated to his new “role” and began creating his own natural spices.

He now owns his own natural seasoning line called Bubba Style. "Bubba Style" is best described as his own life long simple style of cooking, eating and living life. His previously appeared on Better mornings on CBS and showcased his party wings called, "fried bubba fried" with his special seasonings. The great thing about his spices is that they don't need salt. He shares some of his other recipes for good cooking from smokey onion and garlic egg grits, to spicy pan grilled shrimp and bow tie pasta/zucchini. He has teamed with charities, and a percentage of every purchase on his website is donated to the United Cancer Advocacy Action Network and Save Africa's Children.

Many of you may know me as the “Voice in the Streets” on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 or perhaps you’ve caught me hosting or DJ’ing at some of the most exclusive events in the city at the hottest clubs. However, if are reading about me here for the first time, I go by the name Beestroh.

I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for over a decade now and I’ve seen a lot of individuals come and go. From my formative years in Massachusetts to my current home in the A, the one thing that I know is consistent about this business is that it’s a revolving door. Many people gain access but very few remain. As I was contemplating about what I wanted to contribute to this monthly column, I didn’t have to reflect too hard. I know what true struggle looks and feels like. I also know that reading about how other people ‘made it’ helped me to map out my own plan to achieve and reach my goals. It is in that vein that I will highlight some of the top entrepreneurs that largely go unnoticed, mostly by choice. They are the people *behind* the people if you will.

These Q&A style interviews will provide insightful content and points of view from the people that have followed a universal blueprint to success, however added their own personal touches along the way. I’m aiming to capture the biggest, brightest and best names in music and entertainment and also find out what challenges they faced and how they rose above it all. It’s about time that someone highlights the great work of the interesting and newsworthy CEO’s, Managers, Journalists, Attorneys, Publicists, Accountants, etc. that stay ahead of the competition.

I want to educate and inspire my readers by giving them the informational support that will help them navigate the challenges and maximize opportunities available to them within the entertainment business. Therefore each month, I will be bringing you the crème de la crème of the new regime of hustlers this industry has to offer. Together we will explore a variety of professionals who not only make things happen, but who relentlessly achieve greatness. So sit back, buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life as the Beest takes you on a journey that will help change your life and hopefully add some zero’s to your bank account. Let’s gooooo!!
