Nia [email protected]

Sometimes life can be filled with highs and lows, which make it hard to focus on what really matters; the bigger picture is that we have only one life to live.

I suffered a very hard lost two years ago, which forced me to think about my life and what really mattered. Suffering from a death of someone close to you has a way of forcing you to recalibrate, set new plans and have a new appreciation for life. A big question we should always ask ourselves is, “are you content with your life journey today?” I encourage everyone to always follow their dreams and work hard to achieve your personal life’s goals.

As I stand in this photo with my family, I think about how my entire family has encountered our own life’s challenges, especially with losing everything that they worked for in Hurricane Katrina! That catastrophe left them with only a weekend bag, in which they packed and had every intention of coming back home in just a short few days. This flashback constantly reminds me that all of life’s lows can be re-built with determination, hard work and following your dreams. I’m so happy that I am now able to say that my family has overcome life’s hardships and is proof that you can land on back top.

I’d like to end in saying to go out and challenge yourself, make your current life’s journey count, no matter what tries to get in your way!

BIZZY B // BEAUTY BLOG

It's getting dark early, there is a chill in the air, and the leaves are changing-- it's officially FALL! Good news! You can try some new makeup styles! One of my favorite fall trends is smokey light grey eye shadow with "Snow White" deep red lips. Not everyone will want to go as dark as some of the runway looks but don't be afraid to customize it to your personality! Don't go heavy on a liner if you are doing a deep red, keep the eyes soft and pull the focus on your lips so the look won't be so harsh. Play with different reds for a look that is appropriate during the day and/or night. My favorite method? Finding a red I like for the day and mixing it with a brown liner for a deeper, dramatic red for night time. I recommend: Stila Longwear Lip Color in "LOVER" (it looks great on most skin tones) For the brown pencil, you can use any brand. Just be sure to BLEND with the lipstick, avoiding any distinct lines (that is so 1990).

BIZZY B // FALL FASHION

YES...TARGET.By Stylistocrat by R&R

Bizzy B & Stylistocrat by R&R, have been looking for the best Fall deals of the season. Well look no more as we found one for you and your budget. The store is Target, yes Target. Target isn’t necessarily known for high end fashion but they made the exception this time with the world renowned Odin brand. Odin recently teamed up with Target on a fall collection that I’m really excited about. It features everything from double-faced plaid button-downs to long-sleeve henleys and boots. Best of all: Not a single item is priced over $100. Stylish, affordable and accessible -- passes my litmus test. Here's some of the must have looks the Odin at Target Collection is offering. Consider this your Stylistocratic insider style tip.

The Odin at Target collection includes a selection of apparel and accessories that are casual yet sophisti-cated, ranging in price from $14.99 – $99.99.

When approached by my good friend Kim about being the next “relationship guy” for Bizzy B, I didn’t know whether to be flattered like when the hot girl at the office compliments you on the way your hair looks, or to run like hell like when you find out the girl you have been on a couple dates with wants to start having couples’ poetry sessions to help “express her inner feelings.” I mean this whole love thing that can give you that warm, fuzzy feeling in your stomach can also make you feel as if you are the lonely ant that wondered away from the rest of the army only to find the 6 year old kid next door has just discovered his parents’ magnifying glass on a sunny day and has just spotted you to be his first victim. Believe me, some of the relationships that I have been in have felt like this and it is not a good feeling to have your heart at the discretion of someone else’s feelings.

My goal of this monthly column is to help the readers of Bizzy B to get a better grasp on not just their own view of love, whether tainted or pure as it may be, but also to offer suggestions on the day-to-day relationship problems that many of us experience. Warning: I am a glass-half-full kind of guy so the mood and energy of these monthly scribes will be leaning towards the optimistic side.

So because I decided to take on this challenge, I am going to dive in head first, (and guys I wouldn’t suggest on doing that every time…more advice on that later.) I definitely do not claim to be an expert, so if you need that sort of help, I suggest you see a therapist or hire a life coach. I am just a simple guy who has seen, and experi-enced a lot in 27 years including, recently, having a dating reality show where I had the chance to date and entertain 22 women at the same damn time. You can Google “Sweet Home Alabama, CMT,” but it was basically a country version of ABC’s “The Bachelor” where one man has to pick through a multitude of women suitors of all types of back-grounds and personality types. Throw them all in one house with an abundance of alcohol, and you get the only thing that makes the reality television world go around: drama. I will tell of this whole experience in a column in the future.

Anyways, my parents have been married for 34 years and are more in love than they have ever been, but I also know that it has taken a lot of work to get where they are today. They are, however, the greatest role models of love that I could have ever asked for. I have also experienced divorce amongst friends who have wed too early and for the wrong reasons. Not everything is perfect in relationships and the underlying theme of most is to communicate. These are also topics that I will hit on as your monthly contributor.

So because you have made it thus far in this article, it would be an honor to me, Tribble Reese, some Alabama raised, football playin’, reality TV datin’, self-help readin’, God fearin’ guy to help you in your love life in the coming months. To quote my grand-mother from whom I have learned so much, “Love is like a grape, it may have a tough skin but it is full of delicious juices.”

Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, or just to say what’s up on twitter @tribblereese.

BIZZY B // MUSIC

Lyrika is a professional musician known for her own music style--R&B with a twist of Neo Soul. For over twenty years, music has been an important part of her life and it’s not limited to singing. Lyrika is a champion of music--she can play five instruments, the piano, organ, saxophone, double base, but what she is known for is the lovely sound when she’s playing the harp.

Originally a native from St.Louis, she appreciates and respects all the love that the Atlanta music seen has showed. Lyrika has traveled significant amount around the world with her music. She has performed at various shows and festivals around Atlanta and has even taken her harp and amazing voice out the country, performing in Shanghai China.

BIZZY B SITS DOWN WITH THE MUSICAL GENIUS!

BB: Lyrika it’s so exciting to hear how Atlanta has showed so much love to your music. The harp is not a instrument you see every day with a singer and Atlanta is so large on the hip hop scene, how does that influence and/or affect you?

LYRIKA: ATL has been very embracing to my music. I have taken my music to Grand Hustle, which is a hip hop event and received positive feed back, but I do have a song coming out with RICK FLO, he will be rapping on it.

BB: Oh that’s great! How was it to perform in China? Was that the biggest show you’ve ever done?

LYRIKA: China was amazing! China has a great appreciation for orchestra and music. I had a great opportunity, which was to open for Paula Michelle. That show did a lot of grooming for me, I performed three shows a day five days a week.

BB: Now that’s working and obviously makes you a BIZZY B! Do you always perform with your harp? Who would you compare your music to?

LYRIKA: Yes my harp is always with me. I have been told my music sounds comparable to Lauryn Hill.

To find out more about Lyrika, visit her website at www.lyrikamu-sic.com. Also, find her online and follow her via social media at www.youtube.com, (search LYRIKA RECORDS) follow her on Twitter at @lyrikamusic and Facebook Lyrika Holmes

DJ Scream along with business partner Marcus “Rip” Rippey collectively turned their youthful pipe dreams of launching a music company into a multi-million dollar global brand. Their Atlanta-based Hoodrich Entertain-ment has become synonymous with quality street music, in addition to turning local mixtape projects into lucrative label deals and neighborhood rappers into household names. And that’s not all. The powerhouse enterprise also has a marketing arm, in addition to overseeing the careers of a squad of DJs and producers, namely DJ Spinz. The BET Hip Hop Award nominated beat archi-tect produced the summer’s #1 Billboard charting anthem “Cashin Out” by Epic MC Ca$h Out, also a by-product of the Hoodrich machine. When platinum-selling recording artist Rick Ross was assembling his Maybach Music Group imprint, DJ Scream’s name was at the top of the call list. Actually, the Boss requested the 6’4” DJ’s presence and put him on the first jet smoking from ATL down to MIA for a pow wow that resulted in a recording contract. Now the host of Hoodrich Radio on Sirius XM and Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 is ready to take on his new title of recording artist when his debut album Long Live the Hustle drops on November 20th. Although DJ Scream graduated with a degree in Engineering from Tuskegee University, his astute business acumen easily qualifies him as having a Doctorate in Hustlenomics. Here, I ask my colleague and friend about making careers, making records and the Rozay effect. Hoodrich ENT has been responsible for helping launch the careers of leading Hip-Hop MC’s such as 2 Chainz and Future. How can you initially tell whether an artist has what it takes to be a major success?

Being a DJ and having been in the business for many years, you innately understand what people want to hear and what they’ll gravitate towards. So the music is very important; that quality sound has to be there but the artist must also have a certain personality trait that speaks louder than the music. It’s that “it” factor that you can’t quite describe but know it when you hear it and see it. I’ve become an expert in recognizing the “it” factor. What’s been the best and most difficult part of the record-making process? The best is that I get an opportunity to live out a childhood dream. Having a record with my name on it has to be the pinnacle of my career thus far. Although I’m not the musical talent, there is a certain artistic element that goes into putting a project together. It’s been challenging but I’ve enjoyed every moment. The most difficult part has to be relying on so many people to make things come together. If you’re a controlling person, this process is not for you. You’ve been able to influence a lot of people professionally, how has Rick Ross impacted you on the business tip?His nonstop grind, his focus and his pursuit of perfection in large and small things. Even though we all know perfection is unobtainable, the ability to try to reach it anyway is a remarkable and admirable character trait in my book. I’ve always given everything my name has been attached to 150% but being around Ross, that percentage is around 1000 now. You never compete with anybody, your competition is yourself. 23 BIZZYBMAG.COM

The Death Row reign began over 20 years ago and its legacy continues to live on. Over the past year, as plans were revealed by Death Row President John Payne that several albums would be released, it seems that the label founded in 1991 by Dick Griffey, Marion “Suge” Knight, Jr. and Andre “Dr. Dre” Young is still impacting the game.

Known as the house that notorious West Coast artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, TuPac, Nate Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound built, Payne is refreshing the memory of old fans, garnering new ones and dismissing the naysayers by releasing new music and showing just how solid its foundation really is. Payne insists that the label never dissolved it just re-invigorated, despite making tabloid and Internet headlines over the years to the contrary.

Besides bringing great records to the masses, Payne’s goal is to also remind people what Death Row is about and just how strong the Death Row brand is. The music has certainly stood the test of time. In fact, Death Row Records has sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide and generated close to 750 million in revenue. No matter how you feel about the internal operations of the company you can’t deny the numbers; they tell the whole story. And in this case, the story has many more chapters yet to be written.

Payne has been with the Row since the beginning, which makes him the perfect captain at the helm of the ship that knows the meaning of the word ‘sink’ but never completely goes under. Part of that lifeline includes the company being auctioned off and sold to WIDEAwake Entertainment who’ve been running it since 2009. The label that birthed mega-stars and legends will always have a place in music history and Payne is making sure its done so with integrity and excellence. The direction that he has the company going is giving life back to Death Row.
