Now is a great time to check in on your students progress. The end of the semester will be here sooner then we think. If a student needs some additional help now is the time to get that support. I want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the goals we have set for improving our school this year. The goals we are focusing on as a staff are: 1. Increase student engagement through instructional strategies as a way to improve student attendance, reduce course failures, and reduce the number of discipline incidents. 2. Increase academic achievement for all students through the development of high- functioning PLCs (Professional Learning communities). 3. Increase the effectiveness of our daily intervention model (PACK). 4. Increased awareness of Cultural Competence and Equity. We believe we can improve the learning opportunities for our students by improving in these areas. We welcome any feedback you have in regards to these goals. Winter sports have started and we are looking forward to watching our student athletes compete. In upcoming news: we have a band concert Dec. 5, an Orchestra concert Dec. 6 and a Choir concert Dec. 13. All concerts start at 7:00 in the PAC. BHHS Booster Club will be meeting Dec. 12 at 6:30 in the staff lounge. We would love to see you at these events and the Booster Club is open to all, so join us! It is important for students be in their classes and on time. We are still having too many tardies and unexcused absences. Please work with us to assist your son or daughter that they are here and on time. Good luck to DECA who is gearing up for the Area competition coming up at the beginning of January. If you have a senior, please check in with them on their preparation for the senior exit interviews coming up in March. They need to have a resume and 30 community service hours completed and turned in to Mrs. Jones in the Career Center. Lastly, I do want to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your sons and daughters. We really have some great students here at Black Hills High School, they brighten my day, every single day, and I am grateful to work with them on getting a top- notch education. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any question, comments or feedback. The last day before winter break is Thursday Dec. 20, and we return to school on Wednesday January 2. Have a Great December! Go Wolves! Sincerely, Dave Myers Principal Black Hills High School WOLF TRACKS PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

THANK YOU WOLF PACK NATION

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who supported the Black Hills High School football team this

year Not only was the success of the team unprecedented (league champions and 11-1 overall) so was the support

from the students cheerleaders staff parents and community I cannot recall a more vocal dynamic or enthusiastic

Black Hills crowd than the one cheering the team on in the fourth quarter of the Pioneer Bowl this year It was an

amazing experience hearing the crowd cheer themselves hoarse as we won the trophy for the first time since 2009

The dedication hard work and sacrifices by the players and coaching staff all seemed worthwhile in that moment The

great thing about this incredible support it was not a singular moment The Wolf Pack nation traveled well all season

out-numbering the home fans at Chief Sealth and Rochester while matching the enthusiasm of the larger crowds at

Prairie and Aberdeen The enthusiasm did not wane in the crossover win against Columbia River or our first-ever state

playoff win against Burlington-Edison the atmosphere in both games was electric Most importantly I appreciate the

support you showed the team after our hard-fought loss to Fife These young men gave everything they had in the

game and many felt like they had let their friends families and coaches down The scene on the field post-game is

why I am proud to be a part of Black Hills High School and why I have been committed to

this school community and program for twenty-two years The overwhelming love and

encouragement showed by the crowd is what makes this a special place The fans not only

remained until the very end they mobbed the field celebrating everything that these young

men had accomplished in this incredible season I hope that the incredible support and

enthusiasm from the Wolf Pack Nation carries over to the winter and spring sports Again

thank you for the support you gave this team Wolf Strong Pack Stronger ndash Coach Stevens
