This newsletter provides details of key milestones, general progress and information on construction activities and events. We hope you find this newsletter useful and informative. Latest News Work is progressing well on site and the steel frame and roof works are now complete, meaning the building is now water tight. Over the coming months the following works will be taking place: The gabion and cladding installation will commence early April which means the final appearance of the building will start to take shape The bio-diverse roof will start installation at the end of April, supporting the growth of several species and enabling the building to blend into its surroundings The internal fit out has now commenced and will continue throughout the project The incoming service connections will commence in May and the impact of this on Valley Road will be kept to a minimum. Further details will be released separately closer to the time The site hours continue to be 0700 to 1800 Monday to Friday. We remain on target for building completion by July 2013. Welcome to the third quarterly newsletter

aimed at keeping you up to date with

construction works at Black Rock Quarry,

Portishead.

This newsletter provides details of key

milestones, general progress and information

on construction activities and events. We

Community Projects Regular liaison with local businesses,

authorities, schools and colleges is continuing

as we build close links in the area. We are

involved in a variety of projects including:

• Gordano School: We are creating a

business partnership with Gordano School

and continue to work closely with them

through careers advice, curriculum

support, site visits and events.

• The Portishead and Bristol Lifeboat is

the chosen charity the Black Rock Quarry

site team are supporting throughout the

duration of the project, through fundraising

activities and assistance with development

of their current site.

• Weston College: We are actively working

with Weston College to provide

apprenticeship opportunities and support

college events. We recently attended the

WOW Careers event, promoting the

importance of education to students at

Worle School, and Miller provided talks on

the skills they look for when recruiting in

the Construction Industry.

Considerate

Constructors Scheme

(CCS) The Black Rock Quarry site had their first CCS

visit in December and achieved 36 out of 40.

This means we have an exceptionally

considerate site. The site is due its second

visit on the 1st May 2013. Find out more about

Blue Light Partnership

Corporate Responsibility Plan

The plan details how we will work to deliver

tangible outcomes for the local area through

employment initiatives and the use of local

suppliers and contractors.

To date £4.2m out of £9.7m has been

placed within a 35 mile radius of the site.
