Principal News Garden Club

Our internationally acclaimed vegetable garden group entered some vegetables into the North Coast National Show. We won two

1st place ribbons and two 2nd place ribbons. A fantastic achievement. I sincerely thank John and Marion who work with our

students to learn more about growing vegetables. Well done and congratulations Blakebrook PS.

2019 Kindy Transition Program

Our Kindy transition program commences next week. We will have our new enrolments arrive to spend some time at ‘big school’ in

preparation for their transition from pre-school to Blakebrook next year. We welcome our new students and trust they will enjoy

their time at our school.

Monday 29 October – 9:15 – 12pm

Tuesday 30 October – 9:15 – 12pm

Thursday 1 November – 9:15 – 12pm

Monday 5 November – 9:15 – 3:30pm (whole day)

The whole day transition will see all students possibly sample another class for the day. The year 6 students will explore a day in

the life of a year 7 student with Mrs Perren.

Public Speaking

On Friday this week, four of our students will represent our school at the ‘Big Scrub’ Community of Schools Public Speaking

competition to be held at Jiggi Public School. We wish Django, Hayden, Jasmine W and Tamzyn all the best.

P&C Meeting

The next meeting of the P&C will be on Monday 5 November commencing at 5:45pm in the school library. All families are invited to

come along and see the wonderful work our P&C does within the school and to ask any questions about the school. I look forward

to seeing you there.

Gymnastics

Our first week of gymnastics occurred last week. It was a fantastic day. The instructors were very knowledgeable and encouraged

all kids to try their best. It was a very ‘hands on’ session with the students learning many new skills. We do ask that students not

try the skills when not supervised in the playground.

K-2 Overnight Camp

Information has been distributed to our K-2 students and families for the biannual K-2 overnight camp at school. Families will

have the opportunity to set up a tent and camp overnight at school. Dinner and breakfast will be available. Please see the detailed

note previously sent home. The camp will be on the evening of Thursday 8 November.

For Sale

We have a spare year 6 shirt size 14 at the school (new). It is for sale for $25. First in, best dressed (no pun intended!). Contact

the office if you wish to purchase.

2019 Kindergarten Enrolments

We are currently taking enrolments for 2019 Kindergarten. If you have a child who is coming to Blakebrook next year, please con-

tact Wendy to arrange enrolment forms and other information. If you know of a family with a child ready for ‘Big’ school in the

local community, encourage them to contact the school for an appointment to discuss enrolment or to have a look at our wonderful

school.

Have a great week - Allan Duroux

NEWS FROM THE GARDEN

WOW!! What a wonderful change in the weather.

Everything in the garden has proverbially taken wings

cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts and lettuce area now fin-

ished with radish, peas, and eggplant (still recovering from the

frost) not far behind. We have removed the passionfruit vine, it

died from the same frost. Our thoughts now are on what to do

with the garden during the Christmas holidays, our original plan

was to over sow the garden with cow peas as a cover crop,

maybe two or three beds could be sown with some appropriate

summer crops that could look after themselves.

Will keep you informed next month.

Regards from Marion and John.

Daniel holding our North Coast National ribbons we won for our

vegetables. Two 1st place and two 2nd place ribbons.
