Dear Families: Today the Church celebrates the feast of the Magi. St. Matthew aptly describes this episode in the life of Jesus: Magi from the East came to worship the baby Jesus and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold as a king, frankincense as God and myrrh as a man. The three Magi, being real characters who symbolize humanity as a whole, that become "wiser" as they follow the star that leads to the Son of God present in our world. Every day of the year, we should see the star of Bethlehem that guided the three Magi as the announcement that God has manifested himself in our humanity and comes to unite us in brotherhood and guide us as children of one Father. The star wants to shine on all men and women of good will who seek God in the ways of truth, justice and peace. By the presence of the Son of God in the world, all human beings, whatever their race or culture, are called to be one, the people of God, saved by the blood of Christ. The star, if followed, will lead us to those most needy in society: those who are waiting to be born, children, the elderly, the sick, immigrants, young people, those living away from God, all prisoners ... God loves them all. We say that we each have our own star; may its light guide us to Jesus! And may we offer Him the best we have: love, solidarity, kindness, compassion, and service to others. That way we will be "wise" as THE THREE KINGS. Let us Know Jesus a little more each day, loving all that He loves and teaches us every day. Come let us adore Him! Peace and goodness to all. Queridas Familias: Hoy celebra la Iglesia la fiesta de los Reyes Magos. San Mateo describe muy bien este episodio de la vida de Jesús: Unos Magos del Oriente vinieron a adorar al Niño Jesús y le ofrecieron regalos, oro, incienso y mirra. Oro como a rey, incienso como a Dios y mirra como a hombre. Los tres Magos son personajes reales que simbolizan a la humanidad entera que vuelve a ser “sabia” y vuelve a ver la estrella que lleva a reconocer al Hijo de Dios presente en nuestro mundo. La estrella de Belén que guió a aquellos tres Magos debemos verla cada año, todos los días del año; hoy es el anuncio de que Dios se nos ha manifestado en nuestra propia humanidad y viene para hermanarnos y guiarnos como hijos de un mismo Padre. La estrella quiere iluminar a todos los hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad que buscan a Dios por los caminos de la verdad, la justicia y la paz. Por la presencia del Hijo de Dios en el mundo, todos los seres humanos, sean de la raza o cultura que sean, están llamados a formar un solo pueblo, el pueblo de Dios, salvado por la sangre de Cristo. La estrella, si la seguimos, nos va a llevar hasta aquellos más necesitados de la sociedad: los que están a la espera de nacer, los niños, los ancianos, los enfermos, los emigrantes, los jóvenes, los que viven alejados de Dios, los encarcelados…A todos los ama Dios. Solemos decir que cada uno tiene su propia estrella: ¡que su luz nos guíe hacia Jesús! Y sepamos ofrecerle lo mejor que tenemos: amor, solidaridad, cariño, compasión, servicio a los demás. Así seremos “sabios” como los TRES REYES MAGOS. Conozcamos a Jesús un poco más cada día y amemos todo aquello que El ama y nos enseña cada día. ¡Venid y Adorémosle! Paz y Bien. Will I speak up when God puts me in a position to defend innocent life, whatever the age? Will I volunteer some time for the cause of life? Will I participate in the Prayer Vigil for life on Friday mornings in front of Sarasota Planned Parenthood? Will I hold my elected representatives accountable for life? Will I call or write them? Will I write a letter to the editor when I see a "culture of death" article or letter? Is there enough evidence to show God that I'm a true follower? Am I a spectator, or a doer?
