Nature Discoveries…!

Students have learned the English alphabet letters from N to T (Upper & Lower case) with focus on phonics & tracing-writing. They learned the numbers from seven to twelve. They learned Arabic alphabets, Haa, ح to daa ،ض They have learned Islamic words from Quran for each letter they have learned. Show and tell: students learned how to narrate their own stories using their own imagination.

G-1: In Math, we continue to master our addition and subtraction skills. In Science, we learned about solids and liquids. We also conducted experiments. In Social Studies, we continued learning about the continents, and our responsibilities in different roles that we play in daily life. In English, we are working on synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, following directions, sequencing, singular ,plural nouns. We did a project on media literacy.

G-2: In Math, we are working on time telling, addition and subtraction with money and length. In Social Studies, we continued learning about the hemispheres, climate near and away from the equator and the continents.

G-2: In Science, we learned about matter, properties of solids and liquids, object buoyancy, rain, sleet and safety symbols. We also did a project on solids and liquids. In English, we did a project on media literacy. We are doing comprehensions and learning about nouns, pronouns, articles, antonyms, synonyms, present tense and past tense verbs, telling , asking and exclamatory sentences.

G-1: eat, plant, leaf, root, stem, seed, water, sun, warm, man, get, ten, nice, happy, good, rich, boy, girl, new, day, before, after, any every, who, when, what, where, how, funny.

G-2: smooth, rough, heavy, light, weight, colour, correct, box, group, work, money, morning, afternoon ,evening, night, enjoy, true, real, life, fun, air, warmth, watch, easy, hard, important, study, same, different, together, greatest, always, know, north, south, east, west, sky, lake, river, mountain, hill, best, friend.

Students are learning about different food groups, types of Nutrients, energy significance and understanding of balanced diet.

English: This November-December, the students gained knowledge of phonics and syllabication to decode new words with understanding complex sentences. Critical analysis and use information from charts, tables, graphs and maps and make inferences using textual information and provide supporting evidence. Recognize and use adjectives and adverbs in the text. We are progressing with the Units from EnglishSmart.

During the months of Nov-Dec, Hifz Group students were rectifying and solidifying their foundation in tajweed and recitation while they continued to memorize their daily lessons. The entire ‘Ahsanul Qawaid’ was completed with each student. Students undertook the first term tests in the month of December. The assessment was done in tajweed, tarteel & tahfiz of the holy Quran. All students were required to memorize the entire 30th Juz and were individually assigned other surahs as well. Students also participated in a local Qiraat competition alhamdulillah.

Science – Grade 5 and 6 studied the science topics: Wind, Extreme Weather, Effects of Natural Forces on Structures, Bernoulli's Principle, Properties of Air and Four Forces of Flight.

Math: During December, the students practiced their 6 – 9 multiplication tables. In division, they did 3 digit long division. They also studied fractions.

Social studies: We started social studies by reviewing our previous knowledge of Canada's history. We are beginning to learn about the wide varieties of First Nations peoples.

French: Demonstrative pronouns in singular and plural Adverbs of time and place. Arabic: The sport, singular for masculine and feminine, plural, classroom objects, The question words for time, place, reason, way, quantity and persons.

Hadith: In a Hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص (Peace Be Upon Him), said:

Quran: Alhamdulilah we are muslims and we believe the Quran is revealed by ALLAH subhana wa ta’ala to MUHAMMAD ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص peace be upon him, though the angel Jibrael (AS) over a period of 23 years. There are 114 surah / chapters in Quran Majeed. Each and every word and verse contain a beautiful message for us from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Allah تعالىسبحانه و mentions about the virtue of patience as follows:

ه حق ﴾٦٠﴿ ول يستخفنك الذين ل يوقنون فاصبر إن وعد اللـ So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].
