Multi-storey Car Park
Eglinton Street, Cork
Design team Leader, from inception, for post-tensioned
reinforced concrete structure with a proprietary stainless-steel
cladding system to the facades, providing 376 public parking
bays, 27 bays for the sole use of the Fire Department, and an
access for fire appliances to the Anglesea Street Fire Station.
The design concept is premised on the extreme sensitivity of the
building’s location and minimising its impact on City Hall. Project
designed to Planning stage and brief prepared for PPP. On-site
representation for City Architects Department, Cork Corporation.

Millennium Hall
City Hall, Cork
Design Team Leader, from inception, for insertion of a
contemporary structure into the east courtyard of City Hall.
Multi-functional hall with triple glazed roof and architectural
concrete service ‘wall’ which acts as a sound buffer between the
new venue and the existing concert hall. The hall is designed
as an orchestral rehearsal space, a dining and reception space,
for use in tandem with the concert hall, for outside TV
broadcasts and as an exhibition space. The ‘wall’ contains
services, dressing rooms for the concert hall, public toilets and
chair store. Materials different to those of the existing building
were used in a limited palette.
Project Architect for enabling works for new toilets for Concert
Hall and implementation of new toilets by Niall McLoughlin,
Architects.

Student Centre Extension and Associated Works
University College Cork
Project Manager and Design Team Leader, from
inception to completion, for architectural, urban design
and landscaping project within the curtilage of the
College’s principal protected structures, and, adjacent to
and adjoining existing buildings which remained
operational during construction. The project has
significantly altered the eastern area of the campus,
providing a new social focus and providing a strong
connection to the historic core of the campus.

St Johns Central College
Sawmill Street, Cork
Project Manager and Design Team Leader, from
inception to completion, for new Post-Leaving Certificate
college. Masterplan retaining existing buildings and
protected structure and allowing for future development
of the site. Existing buildings had to remain operational
during construction. Excision of the 1960’s buildings
towards the end of the contract, allowed extant teaching
facilities to remain in use during construction, and
created a large central quadrangle which imbues the
college with a strong sense of place.

a major extension of the town of Ballincollig into the
former Murphy’s Barracks.
