Dear Families and Friends of Bishop Montgomery Girls’ Volleyball,

This will be my second season with the Girls at BMHS, the coaching staff and I are very excited about this 2012-13 Girls’ Volleyball Season . We have set up a tough preseason schedule and worked hard throughout the summer to prepare ourselves for what we anticipate to be a terrific season . With eight returning Varsity Players and many talented players from the lower levels as well as a strong incoming class we hope to compete at the highest level possible .

The Lady Knights accolades include twenty-two League Championships dating as far back as 1969 and most recently 2009 . In addition, fourteen CIF Final appearances with seven Championships . They were State Finalists in 1993 and 1999 and State Champions 1996, 1998 and 2002 . Producing twenty-six All CIF Athletes with more than half of those having two or more consecutive awards and nine of those were named CIF Player of the Year . Four Lady Knights were chosen as CIF State Player of the Year and three others named as All Americans . This really demonstrates the level of volleyball talent at Bishop Montgomery and in the South Bay Area in general .

This level of success is directly related to the tremendous amount of support the entire Administration at BMHS provides, not only to us but to all of their Sports Programs . Together with our Student/Athletes we are striving for excellence both athletically and academically .

I would like to thank our Student/Athlete parents, family and friends for their support throughout the season and especially Mr . John Hong for all his efforts creating this year’s Team Media Guide .

GO KNIGHTS!

THE MANZANAR FISHING CLUB MOVIE LA TimesA shameful period in American history — the removal and relocation of an estimated120,000 Japanese Americans following Imperial Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor -— is examined in the worthy documentary “The Manzanar Fishing Club”... Gary Goldstein San Francisco Chronicle A window into something that most of us have heard about but still remains mysterious. Mick LaSalle LA WEEKLY It’s an engrossing film as it explains how and why, for those interned, the simple act of fishing was both meditative and utterly subversive. Ernest Hardy
