How to sustain growth in an age of austerity

Using data to drive sales and improve passenger experience

New opportunities in a consolidating market

Boost business performance with cloud computing

Michael O’LearyCEORyanair

David BulmanCIOVirgin Atlantic

Willie WalshCEOIAG

Dr Jassim HajiCIOGulf Air

Michael became CEO of Ryanair in 2004, and is credited with launching the first successful low fare airline model in Europe. Today, Ryanair remains Europe’s most profitable airline.

Hear him shed some light on how they continue to perform strongly in an age of austerity, and how they plan to sustain the Ultra Low Cost model as customer expectations continue to grow.

As an experienced IT professional with a wide span of strategic, technical and commercial expertise and a background in global systems project implementation and infrastructure management, David sits on the management board for Virgin Atlantic and heads up their IT operations.

He’ll be discussing one of the most exciting opportunities for airlines at this time – Big Data and data management. Hear his strategies for using data to drive sales and improve passenger experience.

At British Airways, Willie guided the company to its first-ever 10 per cent operating margin in 2007 and introduced permanent changes across the airline to bring it through the worst recession in aviation history in 2008/9.

As CEO of IAG and in the face of current economic challenges in Spain, he faces yet another set of challenges. Hear him explain what IAG are doing to stay competitive, and what opportunities he sees in today’s increasingly consolidated market.

Jassim has been instrumental in implementing some key innovations at Gulf Air’s IT systems and processes in recent times, most notably, the introduction of advanced technology for Gulf Air World Wide Contact Centre and Cloud Computing.

Find out how cloud computing at Gulf Air has boosted business performance and been implemented as a tool to enhance passenger experience.

Paul SessegoCEOIDTGV

Adel Abdulla AliCEOAir Arabia

Pieter ElbersCOOKLM

Bjorn is celebrated in his home country as the man who brought low-cost flying to one of Europe’s most expensive regions. Under his leadership, Norwegian is now the third largest LCC in Europe, the second largest airline in Scandinavia and the ninth largest airline in Europe by passenger numbers.

Get insight from him on Norwegian’s plans for expansion outside of Scandinavia and why they are setting up new bases in highly competitive markets.

To date, Paul has been in charge of the long distance traditional lines at SNCF and now as CEO of iDTGV he is charged with creating a unique HSR service that is good enough to compete with low cost airlines

Paul will participate in an interview with the BBC’s Stephen Sackur, discussing how high speed rail is competing for European travellers and market share with short haul services.

Under the leadership of Adel, Air Arabia’s business model has gone from strength to strength, enabling it to expand operations, enter new ventures and diversify into new revenue streams. Today, the Group holds a portfolio of successful businesses and projects, offering travel, tourism and hospitality services across the globe.

Adel will be explaining the Middle East perspective to John Strickland, and discussing Air Arabia’s own success strategies within this market.

Pieter is Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director in the Executive Board of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. His primary responsibility is to manage the day-to-day operations of Europe’s second largest airline, with 165 aircraft, 625 flights/day and 16,000 operational staff.

Pieter will bring his expertise to the table, with discussion around KLM’s response to a very challenging external environment and how they plan to cope with a continually changing market.
