EUROPEAN STATISTICS :
In 2001, across the 15 member states of the European Union :169 fatally inured coach or bus passengers.
For public transport by road, 0.4 fatalities per billion passagers per Km.
For rail transport, 0.2 fatalities per billion passagers per Km. For air transport, 0.4 fatalities per billion passagers per Km.
Public transport safety by road is comparable to other means of transport.
