The store is located just outside the Mandeni central business area; close to a taxi rank, providing residents and commuters

with easy access to a full-service supermarket.

Boxer are cognisant of the impact it has in the area in which it trades, and are focused through various initiatives on uplifting SMMEs in the surrounding community.

Mitchell's Plain Boxer, the second Western Cape store, is located at

the Town Centre with street vendors and hawkers servicing shoppers

predominantly LSM 3 to 6.

The store situated next to a taxi and a bus rank, opened in 1978, was

formerly known as a Pick n Pay store. With an approximate 3,600m²

and 2,100m² trading floor space.

Store Interior & Ranging

Store interior is clean and bright with spacious

enough aisles to accommodate shoppers with

their trolleys and baskets while they shop.

Standard format shelving, break bulk offerings

and clean, next generation signage clearly guide

shoppers through the store.

Various gondola ends feature promotional lines,

and 19 till points accommodate shopper volume.

Approximately 3,000 SKUs are carried – all

specifically picked to cater for the target market

in the community.

Store Entry | Focus on Fresh

The primary focus is on the service departments, such as fruit & veg, butchery, bakery and deli – all key drivers of foot traffic, as

well as playing a critical role in balancing the substantial price investment into bringing basic commodities at competitive prices to

the Boxer shopper.

The fruit and vegetable department is located at the front of the store, welcoming shoppers with clear, vibrant signage.

Fruit and vegetables are sourced locally from farmers and suppliers in the area, with ranging relevant to local shopper tastes.

Hot foods, catering for the on-the-go and convenience shopper is situated close to the entrance.

New Store Opening Formalities

The store was opened on 10 May 2017 by both Mr and Mrs Ackerman. Prominent community leaders attended the

opening, such as Mayco member Eddie Matthews. Boxer took the opportunity to show its support for local organisations

through cash donations to Hawkers Against Crime, Lentegeur LSEN school and JP Duminy cricket JP21 Project, as well

as four schools within 1km from the store also receiving cricket kits from South African cricketer, JP Duminy.
