Oil & Gas Upstream Clusters

Areas for cooperation between Norway and Brazil within O&G

offshore

• IOR (Improved Oil Recovery)

• Decommissioning and Maintenance of fields in late production

• Technologies for FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading)

• Subsea Technologies

• Natural gas infrastructure (LNG)

• Environmental Monitoring

Incentives for mature fields Note: HoA between Statoil and Petrobras was signed in 2017 with intention for further technical cooperation aiming to increase oil recovery and oil production in the post salt areas at Campos Basin

IOR (Improved Oil Recovery)

There will be needs to identify innovative and cost-effective solutions for maintenance of fields in production and later on for decommissioning all the infrastructures (topside facilities; subsea infrastructure; pipeline; well plug and abandonment). Challenges may be within:

A well defined engineering, planning and technology for decom, will

Business opportunities for technologies for FPSO construction (market trend is to grow the number of platforms to accomplish with Brazilian E&P companies plans). Topsides and process equipment will grow, but more challenging with many FPSO lease contractors. The value creation from the Norwegian industry is dependent on Norwegian companies winning FPSO leasing contracts. The cooperation may increase if Teekay or BW Offshore or Yinson are one of the contractors.

Technologies for FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and

Offloading)

Trend to grow, but is a very competitive local market with 4-5 dominating players. There are some niche solutions that can be provided by Norwegian SME´s in close cooperation with the big players, which have big potential for innovative and cost effective solutions.

Subsea Technologies

The Brazilian government through the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) has ambitions to increase the gas market in Brazil and it is on the way a program called “Gas para Crescer” (Gas to grow). There maybe some cooperation opportunity if a solution for small scale of LNG will be required by the market.

Natural gas infrastructure (LNG)

The Brazilian offshore market is placed in very sensitive areas and environmental monitoring is essential to guarantee the licenses for operation. There is a new frontier for Oil exploration in Brazil at the Equatorial Margin, a very sensitive are with benthic habitats, tourism and border with other countries, despite the long coast of Brazil within the post and pre salt areas. There are potential opportunities for sharing experiences from Norway and build together a monitoring program and cooperation.

Environmental Monitoring

Environmental monitoring of on the NCS – The EM

Guidelines • Detailed requirements for environmental monitoring on the Norwegian

continental shelf (NCS) were previously included in the Regulations

• The detailed descriptions of monitoring procedures have been

transferred from the regulations to the present guidelines M-408,

2015

• The regulations now contain general requirements, while the

guidelines provide more detailed instructions on how the

requirements can best be met.
