Only for Teams that have raised the minimum pledge

Check-in for all four together is essential. Check-in starts at 04.00 am.

If you have already collected the bib earlier: Visit the check-in counters in the registrations area; in all four and check-in.

If you haven’t yet collected the bib,Visit the bib-collection counter in the registrations area; Submit all three forms for the team and check-in.

Check-in counter closes at 06.45. No walker, reaching after 06.45 am, will be allowed to participate;.

RULES OF THE EVENT

IMPORTANT RULES YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU START• No 5: All team members must stay together between Check Points and must check

in and check out together at each check points. Staff at checkpoints will not check in and out incomplete teams.

• No 14: Every team must have a support crew and must be self-sufficient. The support crew is responsible for providing teams with the majority of their food, water and changes of clothes during the event. Please ensure your support crew is suitably briefed.

• No 17: Teams are requested to respect residential and local parking regulations.• No 18: Participants must keep noise levels to a minimum when walking in

residential areas during training and the event.• No 19 and 20: Each team must carry at least one first aid kit containing at a

minimum the items outlined in your Event Handbook. Prescription medication and painkillers are your team’s responsibility.

• No 15: Do not litter. Participants and support crews must respect the environment and local neighborhood by using the litter and recycling bins at the checkpoints.

Some Key Pointers• Make your team strategy• Reach start point well before the start time to avoid delay• Do not deviate from the trail marked route. Follow the walking directions in the

map provided. Marking boards may be unavailable/ misplaced• Stay Together- Walk in team always as network connection may vary. • While walking at night, beware of dogs in villages.• Event is not on full moon. Street lights not available. Thus, Head torch essential for

night walk

REGISTRATIONS

• To avoid delay, we will have early registrations of teams and distibution of bibs at the following places and time– 18th Jan- At Briefing Evening Venue– 19th-21st Jan- Oxfam India Office– 24th Jan- Pearl Valley

No change of team member allowed after a team has collected the bibs

• At the registration, you will receive – BIBs– Map Folder– Support Crew Vehicle Pass– Food Coupons (for those who have booked)

• On the D Day– Check In for those who have registered– BIBs Collection for those who have not registered

Food

• 20 ltrs Packaged Drinking Water Jars is available for walkers at all the checkpoints. Get your own water bottles to refill. Support Crew needs to make their own arrangements.

• At all Check Points– Pre-booked meals for those who have booked their meals– Limited Cuppa noodles at 3 other check-points (only one per walker)-

checkpoint 2; 4 and 6; based on availability.

FOOD AT THE TRAIL• The food is arranged through local caterers• The food includes pre-booked packed limited meals • One meal is available at only one location during specified time• Food being cooked in one go. ...ON THE TRAIL• Use the Trail Map provided to you• We have installed kilometer markers at every km of the trail till 99

km..don’t guarantee its availability• There will be markings on the road/ stones, wherever possible also

to guide you• In the trek path; look out for ribbons tied on the shrubs/ trees. • All Check Points will be marked by a welcome banner and the next

Check Point details will be given at the exit point• We have also installed arrow boards/ road markings at all main Left

and Right turns. For some reason if it’s misplaced; refer your Map folder.

• Night sections may see Trail Marshalls on bike/ cars to ensure your safety. Walk in teams through out

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY• Ambulances from Apollo Hospital will be on the move at all

times• Find your approximate location on the trail as per the recently

crossed kilometer marker (there are Km markers at every km)/ landmark mentioned in the map, note the distance and call the emergency number printed on your event BIB

• If possible, carry the walker till the main road as ambulance can only travel on main road

• Support reaching the trail section may take 20-30 mins or even more; depending upon the location and availability of ambulance

• Team members should not leave an injured person alone

EVENT CONTROL CENTRE

SAFETY PROTOCOL• All participants must have their BIBs at all time• All participants are required to check in and check out together

as a team from each Check Point. • Teams of 2 or less must walk with another team to ensure a safe

walking group especially at night.• Retirement certificates will be issued for every retired

participant and this must be shown at every subsequent checkpoint by the team.

• Do not leave the check point without checking-out• If you plan to leave the checkpoint and go and sleep somewhere

else, inform the checkpoint and take transit certificate and join the check point next time for check out

PROVISIONS AT THE CHECK POINTS

• All teams are expected to be self sufficient for food and hydration needs.• All Check Points will have drinking water, available only for participants. • All Check Points will have counters for F&B. Packed fixed meal is available

on coupon only at designated time; CP and the type of meal mentioned. These are cooked in one go. No heating facility. Meals are prepared as per number of coupons only.

• 3 checkpoints has limited cuppa noodles, one per walker- CP 2, 4 and 6. • All Check Points will have a medical area for first aid and physiotherapy

help.• All Check Points will have restrooms (portaloos) for women and men.• Check Points 5, 6, 7 and 8 have Sleeping area, at which support crew can

fetch their tents. • Check Points SP, 5, 6 and 8 will have Changing Rooms for women and men

separately

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTOCOL

• We want to keep the event as green as possible.• ERM, our Environment Partner for the event would conduct EIA of the

event • The event will generate non-recyclable and recyclable waste materials.• Minimise environmental impact by using less plastic bottles and paper

cups. Carry bottles with you which you can keep refilling at each Check Points. No glasses available for drinking water. Oxfam will not provide package bottled water.

• Dustbins will be available at Check Points only. Participants are requested to discard all wastes including small confectionery wrappers at the Check Point dustbins only.

• Support Crew requested not to litter on the way and use reusable materials

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TRAIL

• It’s a relatively greener and softer trail- through village roads, trek path, ridges of forest and fields

• Trail does have some uphill and downhill walk and through fields

• Lot of trail is through tar crosses district/ state roads sometimes; watch for vehicles on the road

• Route careful of--End of CP 3-4; CP 4-5; CP 6-7 and 9-10• Walking at night in villages, beware of dogs

TIPS FOR TEAMS

• Stay together as a team - watch out for each other and walk at the pace of the slowest member

• Give way to faster walkers - be considerate and take care when overtaking

• Carry mobile phones - on at least two different networks• Stay on the trail at all times• Respect local culture and communities• Wear appropriate clothing / footwear particularly for walking

at night through fields

MEDICAL TIPS

• Follow walking plan as per your training plan• Do not over eat breakfast• Avoid too oily/ spicy food• Hydration Tips- do not over hydrate• Carry Sun screen• Injury- Always check- report to ambulance• Wake up at least 3 hours before• Energy drink- 15-20 min before (not much)• Do not deprive your sleep- if usually 8 hours; sleep at least 4-

5 hours

MEDICAL TIPS

• Walk at your team ideal pace, do not over exaggerate • Avoid too oily and junk food• Once at finish line; do not immediately stop- continue for

further 500 metre before finally stopping- flash out lactic acid• Most medicine provided are non-injectable• Enjoy the walk• Keep Smiling

• “Check in” to your Facebook account, wherever you get a mobile network.

• Share lots of photos and videos through FB and Twitter. • Remember to tag our official Facebook and Twitter pages. • Spread your finish point photos through the social media.

SUPPORT CREW

• Read the Support Crew Section in the Event Handbook, available at website– Download Support Crew Map from the website and carry with you

• Bring reusable cups to the checkpoint for electrolyte and hot drinks for crew and team

• Teams must be self-sufficient• Be considerate of local residents and animals• Do not arrive more than half an hour prior to team arrival• Respect the instructions of volunteer parking marshals• No trailers, caravans or pets allowed. Smoking is prohibited at Check Points• Keep an eye out for fatigue & drive safely• Support Crew cannot meet team members outside the Check Points; unless

there is an emergency• Ensure you are valued for your efforts by your team! You may walk some

sections of the trail with your team and cheer them up!

per team requirement
